Diablo Immortal has received a new update, which includes several new features, including a new currency: Telluric Pearls. With these, you can buy the coveted legendary gems, and even for free. However, you will have to grind for quite a while.
About these items: Legendary gems are crucial for your strength. They have various effects that make many class builds genuinely useful. You can get legendary gems for free or buy them with real money.
They enhance the efficiency of your remaining equipment through so-called Resonance and can only be obtained quickly with a significant investment of real money. Legendary gems are therefore considered the major Pay2Win factor of Diablo Immortal.
What’s new: Telluric Pearls are the new currency in Diablo Immortal. With these, you can buy specific legendary gems with 5 stars from the Master Gemsmith. There are 3 sources to obtain the pearls:
- for 800 Hilt at the Hilt vendor in Westmark (once a week)
- by participating in time-limited events
- for real money in the shop as part of certain bundles
After the change that you can get more legendary emblems, Telluric Pearls provide a new way to obtain legendary gems for free. However, you will need to dedicate a lot of time.

What’s the catch? The new system comes with two issues. The first is that, according to reports, you can only obtain gems with 2/5 stars. While these gems still fall into the category of the most powerful items (5-star gems), they are at the weakest rank.
The stars can be upgraded, but that involves even more grinding. And already, the grind is enormous. The second issue is that you need 40 pearls for one gem. Since you only get one pearl guaranteed for free per week, that means up to 40 weeks of grinding – or just over 9 months.
This, of course, only applies if you don’t want to spend money. We don’t yet know how many pearls will be available in the events. But expect several months of pure grinding.
“This is still a good deal”
Is it worth it? Even though the grind sounds like a lot, according to some hardcore players, it’s better than almost all other options currently available for free-to-play players in the game (via reddit).
You can obtain a 2/5-star gem with the pearls for 32,000 Hilt, and it is worth 32 gem power. You need gem power to upgrade other legendary gems, and it does not matter which gem you “scrap” for this.
The previously best alternative was purchasing Ca’arsen’s Buff, a 1-star gem, or a legendary emblem. Both cost 1,600 Hilt and yield one gem power – or with luck, a little more.
2/5-star gems are indeed highly sought after for upgrading, as they are relatively easy to get. With the pearls, it is a long grind, but still better than the alternatives.
