In a 3-hour livestream, Blizzard explained what players can expect in Season 6 of Diablo 4. We summarize the information for you in 4 minutes.
On October 2, Blizzard explained in their YouTube livestream what new content will come with Season 6 in Diablo 4. They also discussed what changes they will make based on feedback from the PTR. The PTR ran in early September, and not all features were well received. Players felt: Diablo 4 is simply too exhausting in Season 6.
The developers evaluated the feedback and revised some content. Below, you will find out what to expect in Season 6 after the changes.
In the video, the developers explain the new difficulty levels:
Hardly any restrictions on difficulty levels during leveling
What changes will be made to difficulty levels? A major overhaul is related to the new difficulty levels. After criticism, Blizzard is abolishing the world levels and integrating a new system.
During leveling, there are four difficulty levels (Normal, Hard, Expert, Penitent) that you can essentially play from level 1, as soon as you complete the campaign. In the PTR, you could only switch to Penitent at level 50, which was criticized. In the endgame, there are four Torment levels, which you unlock gradually in the pit.
Monster levels will no longer be displayed; they are tied to the difficulty level you are playing on. “Tormented” bosses will then be available on all Torment levels; the higher the level you defeat them at, the more loot they will drop.
What changes will be made to the classes? With Season 6, all five classes will receive new uniques and new skills. Players have already been able to test both during the PTR. However, some classes and skills performed too weakly, prompting the developers to make adjustments to the classes:
Obsidian as the only material for completion
What changes will be made to the materials? Regarding Masterworking, only Obsidian will drop. The other two crafting materials (Ingolith, Lesser Iron) will no longer be available. You can obtain Obsidian in Nightmare Dungeons, Hell Hordes, and the Undercity of Vessel of Hatred. Stygian Stones will also be removed.
Additionally, from Torment level 1 onwards, only legendary items and uniques will drop. Normal, magical, and rare items will be automatically converted into crafting materials upon dropping. Previously, players requested that their loot pets automatically break down “useless” loot – as was the case in Diablo 3.
What changes will be made to crafting and loot? The itemization will also receive another update. In the PTR, players criticized that more luck was needed for everything – the new season was changing the loot system for the worse.
Blizzard listened to the criticism and is once again adjusting the itemization. Loot drops will be adjusted and drop rates for individual items increased. Furthermore, especially normal legendaries will be revised to remain interesting longer while you grind the ancestral items. You can complete normal items 8 times and equip them with new affixes twice during hardening. Ancestral items will drop more frequently in Nightmare Dungeons and from chests from the Whispering Tree.
New world event in Season 6: The Realm Walker
What seasonal content will be available? In the livestream, the developers presented the content of Season 6. In the “Season of Ascending Hatred,” there will be “Realm Walkers” – a new world event that you can visit regularly. When you defeat it, a portal to a dungeon opens.
- A Realm Walker spawns in a region that changes every time every 15 minutes
- Additionally, a second Realm Walker spawns near Nahantu once per hour
- The first Realm Walker that spawns every hour is a task for the Whispering Tree
- Every 3 hours, the Realm Walker that spawns in Nahantu is also a whisper
Furthermore, there will be a fresh seasonal journey, a new Battle Pass, and a group finder for all kinds of activities. From Season 6 onwards, you can also mark the waypoint of your “favorite city” as a favorite, to which you will be teleported by default. The wardrobe will then be accessible through the character menu. The Gauntlet and its leaderboards will be temporarily removed.
Season 6 begins on October 8 at 01:00 AM our time – simultaneously with the first expansion for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred. The base game will also receive a major update. This means specifically: You will receive new features even if you do not purchase the DLC by then.
With Vessel of Hatred, more content will come into play, including a new cooperative dungeon, rune words, a new area, and the new class, the Spiritborn.
