Before the release, Diablo 4 was available to some testers. One of these testers made it his mission to complete the game – and he succeeded. Rob2628 not only reached the maximum level, but he also mastered the most challenging content.
Who is the player? Rob2628 runs a rather small channel on YouTube and streams on Twitch. The streamer was invited to test Diablo 4, which was available from May 16 to 26 for press and other guests.
The main focus of the test was that journalists and influencers could get a feel for the complete game and write their reviews. MeinMMO was also invited: Diablo 4 in test: Purists will hate it because it is too much of an MMO – But I love it
However, Rob2628 pursued a different goal. He has achieved nearly everything there is to do in Diablo 4, even before the game is officially released.
Diablo 4 will be released on June 6, with Early Access starting on June 2. In our overview, you can find all information about the release of Diablo 4. You can watch Rob’s video here:
This is what Rob2628 has achieved: As the player shows in his video on YouTube, he has reached level 100 with his Barbarian. This is the maximum level of Diablo 4 and is supposed to require far more than 100 hours.
But that’s not all. Rob has also reached World Tier 4 and mastered a nightmare dungeon at level 100. Nightmare dungeons are harder versions of the dungeons from Diablo 4 and become increasingly difficult with rising levels.
For comparison: during the test, we struggled with World Tier 3 after about 30-40 hours, and I almost failed in a nightmare dungeon at level 1. Rob also secured equipment at the highest level.
The player used a Whirlwind build for the Barbarian, which is traditionally one of the popular playstyles of the class. In this, the Barbarian “whirls” through enemies and deals massive damage while healing himself.
The conclusion about Diablo 4 after the test can be seen here:
“Doesn’t look fun”
The video was also shared on Reddit, where the community is actively discussing it with over 1,500 comments. Major point of criticism: the numbers. Damage numbers in the millions are visible, something Blizzard actually wanted to avoid.
The numbers remind players of Diablo 3 and are said to be “the worst part” of the game. They are inflated and, at this level, absolutely meaningless. And a build that relies 100% on the effect of an item does not look particularly fun.
Those who generally have little to do with numbers see nothing important there and do not know how to classify it. Sometimes you can’t even read them because there are so many at once and they pop up constantly.
The criticism itself is taken somewhat cynically by some other fans. You could just go back to Diablo 2, where there are no numbers and everything simply dies, which is of course “completely different.” There, you only care about when Baal reappears and laugh.
Also, the fact that one gets so hung up on this detail seems kind of ridiculous. It feels like wanting to complain just to complain. The numbers can anyway be turned off, and the pure gameplay of a Barbarian mowing through hordes of demons is pretty cool.
