Diablo 4: Fergusson Interviews at gamescom

- Season 2 is particularly aimed at players who are just starting with Diablo 4
- They want to improve interaction with the community and create more transparency
- The Blood Knight from Diablo Immortal will not be coming to Diablo 4
- There are no plans to introduce a test realm – they prefer to improve communication and the reception of community feedback
- The concept of a season is based on two ideas: a strong story and the power-fantasy of the season mechanics
- With Season 2, new enemies, uniques, and legendaries will be introduced
- The story of Season 2 will revolve around a distant vampire hunter, who gradually warms up
- In the first week of October, there will be a “Deep Dive” into Season 2 and the vampiric powers
- To play the 5 new bosses of Season 2, players will need to “summon” them or complete certain tasks – they will not just be found in the world
- A lot of “Quality of Life” improvements are planned for Season 2
- Season 2 compared to Season 1: They aim to always create a new experience, there are no templates for the seasons
- The “accessibility” of the content for every type of player is particularly focused on with new content
- No more MMO features like raids are planned, but there are no taboo topics – something like that could be possible someday
- Currently, Fergusson does not want to share any information about world tier 5
- The Eternal Realm should also be enjoyable in the future, but the focus of Diablo 4 is on the seasons
- The previous changes should not aim to make the game slower – the intention is actually to create more options for new and different builds
- Leaderboards could come in Season 3 – they want to improve balancing first
- Fergusson would like to see something completely new in Diablo 4 that still aligns with the familiar mechanics – he mentions the new class Blood Knight in Diablo Immortal as an example
- A new class should depend on playstyles that are currently not represented in Diablo 4
