At the moment, Barbarians are still the absolute top class in Diablo 4. With Season 5, however, many of their builds will be nerfed – even those that are technically “off-meta”. Because of this, a player is now sharing their super secret OP build because they can only play it for a few more weeks anyway. And it looks completely absurd.
What kind of build is this?
- The build has received the subtitle “Frog Barbarian” in the community.
- Unlike most top builds for Barbarians in Season 4, the Frog Barbarian uses only one skill, Jump, in addition to three battle cries.
- True to its name, your character jumps around with the build and crushes enemies without cooldown. You can see what this looks like best on YouTube.
This is how the Frog Barbarian works: The build plays with only four skills: Battle Cry, Challenging Cry, War Cry, and Jump. The damage, however, like many Barbarian builds, comes from the Dust Devils that you summon.
The gameplay itself is easy: You jump around and summon whirlwinds that shred enemies. The cooldown is constantly reset. However, your equipment must match:
- You need to harden your equipment correctly: Where possible, you need cooldown reduction on Jump and Barbarian skills.
- Additionally, you need to increase the damage of Dust Devils and the damage while in Berserker mode on your weapons.
- For Legendary items, you especially need the Trembling Aspect, Giant Steps, Bul-Kathos, and Whipping Winds.
- Not necessary, but very helpful is the coveted Harlequin Crown (“Shako”), because you want many additional levels on Jump and the passive effect Shaking.
- For more damage, the Uber-Uniques Grandfather and Tyrael’s Might are useful.

With the combination of Legendaries, you leave an earthquake when you jump. While you are in the effect, you deal more damage and take less. Additionally, you reset the cooldown of Jump to be able to use the skill continuously.
The damage ultimately comes from many multipliers for Dust Devils as well as bleed effects. By jumping, you are basically in Berserker mode all the time and receive almost permanent buffs from your cries – depending on how many enemies are nearby.

On Reddit as well as on YouTube, users celebrate the build as absurd and fun. They say: Jumping around like this looks completely ridiculous but also like a lot of fun. It is regarded as “the craziest build” seen this season.
However, the creator states: Once the nerfs come with Season 5, the build will be absolutely dead. This is due to the upcoming adjustment of the central passive ability Gaping Wounds.
In the preview of Season 5 by Rob many class changes can already be seen, including the nerf of Gaping Wounds. Roughly, the damage here is halved, and effects that have synergy with bleeding are also affected.
However, some other users believe: Even without this passive skill, the build should work. Other builds that rely on bleeding would also still be good – just not as strong as they are currently. How it will actually look, we will probably only know in Season 5.
With the new season, the Barbarian will receive (deserved) nerfs, but all other classes will be significantly stronger. Blizzard has already implemented a lot of feedback from the PTR and is currently refining the changes for the upcoming season.
