The Mythic Uniques are the rarest items in Diablo 4. You can get them from certain bosses – and with a lot of luck, also outside of them. One player had great luck and received a mythic unique from a content that many ignore.
What are Mythics? The Mythic Uniques were called Uber Uniques until Season 5 in Diablo 4. These are powerful, rare items that make many builds even stronger or exceptionally strong. Mythic Uniques are even rarer than “normal” Uniques. Here you can find an overview of all Mythics.
You have the highest chance of getting a Mythic from the bosses Duriel and Andariel – it is even higher if you fight the bosses in the “Tormented” version at level 200. However, the mythic uniques can also drop outside of that. One player had this luck as he received a mythic ring from a chest in the “Whispering Tree”.
You can also obtain chests in the reputation system in Season 5 of Diablo 4 – even if you have already completed the maximum level there:
Mythic drop from the “Whispering Tree”
What did the player get? In a post on Reddit, “MicRo_Mnager” shows his loot drop, which he apparently received from a chest from the “Whispering Tree”. Among them are several legendaries, boss mats, a compass for the hell hordes, and a mythic ring.
Since there is currently only one Mythic ring, this is the Ring of the Starless Sky, which can be equipped by all classes. The ring increases your resistance to all types of damage, your attack speed, your critical hit chance, your lucky hit chance, and gives you ranks on core skills. It also reduces resource costs and increases your damage.
Which content is often ignored? The bounties for the Whispering Tree allow you to farm gold, mats, and items. However, the bounties are spread across various areas of the map – and are time-limited.
Once you have collected ten points, you also need to teleport to the Whispering Tree to exchange the points for a chest. If you do not exchange them, you will not collect any further points. This back and forth can be time-consuming.
However, with Season 5, another activity was introduced in Diablo 4 that you can farm: the Hell hordes. The more “Burning Ether” you collect during the monster waves there, the more gold, mats, or items you get at the end. You can choose between the rewards and invest your ether only in mats or gold, if you are currently lacking in them. One player exchanged his ether for nearly 150 million gold in a Hell hordes run.
For the amount of gold, you would have to complete some bounties for the Whispering Tree, which would simply take longer than the Hell hordes runs. Also, for the loot, the Hell hordes are generally more worthwhile. There, you can end up opening a chest that drops items with great affixes (1.5x as strong as normal affixes).
Where else do Mythics drop outside of bosses? But other players have also had luck and have randomly dropped Mythic Uniques. One player reported in a post on Reddit that he received the Ring of the Starless Sky from a chest in the Nightmare dungeon.
Also, the “Infinite Reward Chests” of the reputation system in Season 5 are worth it, as another player received a Mythic. In his post on Reddit, he shows the unique “Ahavarion Staff of Lycander” (for Sorcerers and Druids). He writes: “A small reminder! Open these chests regularly to get the great rewards.”
The “Gift of the Mother” reputation system came with Season 5 in Diablo 4 and is a promising way to get loot and mats. With the last level, the grind does not end this time, as you can continue to gather afterwards. You can read more about it here: Diablo 4: Secret change brings more loot for all who like to grind
