In Diablo 4 the Butcher is a notorious enemy that could appear at any time while you are exploring dungeons. Defeating him is no easy task at higher world levels. However, a player tricked the boss and defeated him easily – with a ladder.
Who is the Butcher? The Butcher originally comes from Diablo 1, but has been a constant presence in the Diablo series. In Diablo 4, he appears as a secret boss who can make your life difficult in dungeons or hellish floods.
He can drop good loot when you defeat him. However, this is easier said than done. With a lot of CC and damage, he is a powerful opponent, especially when he surprises players in the most unsuitable situations.
Strong builds are therefore essential to defeat him. You can find the best builds in our tier list of the strongest classes in Diablo 4.
A ladder as the ultimate trick
How did the player trick the Butcher? The user ataya47 posted a video on Reddit in which he easily defeats the Butcher. It only took a simple ladder.
He plays the Sorceress with the Ice Shard core skill. As the Butcher chases him and deals visibly high damage, the player gets the idea to climb the ladder. Suddenly, the Butcher can no longer move, and the player kills him with ice shards.

Of course, the trick cannot be easily replicated, as the Butcher does not always appear where you have ladders accessible.
A similar trick was done before when a player tricked and killed the Butcher with a box.
How do other players react? The comments on Reddit are visibly having fun with the video and comment jokes against Blizzard’s nerf philosophy along with Obi-Wan memes.
