The players are always looking for secrets and the best way to get good loot in Diablo 4. A fan has apparently combined both and swears by it: if you follow the rats, you will definitely get Legendarys. Now thousands of players are following the rodents.
What is the deal with the rats?
- The hunt for ever better loot is the main incentive for most players in Diablo 4.
- If you follow the rats in dungeons and kill enemies where they stop, it is said that Legendarys will rain down. At least that’s what one player claimed.
- The community has tried this and wants to be able to confirm it. Now they are asking for confirmations from Blizzard, using rats as a meme and even searching for the secret rat level.
You need Legendarys for your perfect build. You can find the best builds of Diablo 4 in our Tier List
How should that work? The Reddit user zerger45 has raised the claim that rats lead him to good loot like their nose to cheese. One should not focus on the given path in dungeons at all.
Instead, it is much better to see where the little rodents are running. Rats can be found almost everywhere, but you have to be careful not to overlook them or even accidentally kill them.
zerger45 swears that he found a ton of Legendarys in 10 minutes this way. The rats show him which enemies have loot. He then kills them and collects the orange pieces.
If you want more chances for loot, definitely check out the many basements of the game:
“I followed the rats”
The post has quickly gathered over 8,400 likes and over 570 comments. Other players respond, posting screenshots of loot that they allegedly found through rats.
Others try to resist but fail and give in to the temptation to try it out themselves. One even claims to have found one of the coveted Uniques for the Necromancer:
Since then, rats have become a tip for anyone complaining about getting too little loot. It is always said, “Just follow the rats.” Parts of the discussions are even taken away from the original topic to talk about the rats.
Moreover, conspiracy theories have formed. For example, that “rats” reversed yields “star” and somehow relates to the S.T.A.R.S. from Resident Evil. Because there are also zombies. Please don’t think too much about it…
Does it really work? That is hard to imagine. Loot drops everywhere and often in Diablo 4. It is quite possible that a group of enemies, whom a rat runs to, has Legendarys.
However, the idea that rats specifically run to such enemies or increase the chances of loot doesn’t sound very plausible. Then again, it’s Blizzard, who include all sorts of strange Easter eggs in their games.
The whole discussion has now caused the community to follow the whole rat topic more closely. So much so that they sometimes think more about a secret rat level than the legendary cow level they have been searching for until now:
