Players at higher levels find it hard to discover improvements in Diablo 4. They complain that there is a limit beyond which it’s difficult to upgrade their gear. Even before level 100, they feel it’s the “end.” They arrive at the same conclusions independently.
What is this wall?
- For many players, the goal in Diablo is to constantly search for that one item that can still improve them.
- For this, they farm for hours at the best farm spots for legendaries or run through high nightmare dungeons.
- However, after a certain point in the game, the items become so good that at most only the 6 rarest items in the game provide an upgrade. And this occurs well before the maximum level.
When does it become “stuck”? According to players on Reddit, improvements only come slowly between levels 70 and 75. Between levels 75 and 80, all builds are essentially at their maximum.
You can find the best builds in our tier list for Diablo 4.
Items would then have a level of 750 to 800, and it would be nearly impossible to find a good roll at a higher level. Some enemies drop certain items at a higher level, but they are not useful for every class.
Additionally, certain properties on the items become more important than their pure item level. Therefore, even yellow items become more interesting than legendaries, but even finding the “God Roll” offers little improvement.
Therefore, many players decide around level 75 to start a new character. They say their character has already reached the maximum; it’s time for a new one. However, that’s not entirely accurate, some apparently more experienced players argue.
If you want to know exactly how strong an item is, use 2 settings:
“Very little comes from the items”
While some players at level 90 and higher agree that the “paper” values hardly change significantly later on. However, the greatest strength between levels 75 and 100 no longer comes from items.
The user adwcta explains: “Only a little [of the power level] comes from items, but your build is far from complete […] until around level 95, unless you plan to stop scaling earlier.”
The most important aspects in later play are glyphs and paragon, which provide strong multipliers. A good endgame build continues to scale precisely with that. We explain how the system works in the guide:
The comment does receive criticism that players have no desire for the repetitive grind for the glyphs, but that is simply part of the game. Even in Diablo 2, you repeatedly killed the same boss for a chance at an item.
And somehow it’s also about squeezing out that half percent improvement and moving up a rank.
You don’t necessarily have to create a new character with each new season to get better:
