The open beta of Diablo 4 is over. Some players have already invested up to 50 hours or more, yet they have not even seen a fifth of the world. The map of the new action RPG is much larger, and this news is generating excitement.
How big is the map? In the open beta of Diablo 4, you were only able to visit the Shattered Peaks. This area includes Act 1, as well as several side quests and dungeons. However, much more of the map was visible while playing, even if it wasn’t fully revealed.
In the release version of Diablo 4, however, there are at least 4 more areas that you can explore. The peaks make up less than a fifth of the total you can travel:
- Blizzard has already introduced the world of Diablo 4 in an earlier video on YouTube. It also showed all the areas that are yet to come.
- In interactive maps like the one from Mapgenie, the entire world map can already be seen, although not yet with “Points of Interest”.
For comparison, a user uploaded a complete map to Reddit and highlighted the part in red that you could see so far.
It is clearly visible: The areas on the surface that have been visible so far make up only about 20% of the visible world. In addition, there are over 100 dungeons in the finished game that you can explore.
“After the beta, all other games are ruined”
What else is in the world? So far, 4 more areas are known to be in Diablo 4:
- Scosglen: wild forests and an important area for druids
- Kehjistan: ruins of many wars and demonic invasions
- Hawezar: a sickly swamp
- Desiccated Steppes: as the name suggests, a barren steppe area
Additionally, there are already hints that you will later enter hell, perhaps also the High Heavens. There are already images of hell, but we do not yet know when and where you will see them.
By the way, you are supposed to receive the same loot in every area at any time. Only the appearance changes, allowing you to put together your own outfits. You can find more info in our transmog guide for Diablo 4.
This is what the fans say: The reactions to the map are extremely positive and already a bit nostalgic. The beta has just ended a few hours ago and fans are already experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
It is being said that all other games seem boring and bland right now. Some are asking how other fans cope with the emptiness that exists until Diablo 4 finally releases.
The conclusion of the MeinMMO editorial team regarding the beta can be seen in the video:
Although only little of the world was visible, Diablo 4 has apparently done many things right. The only criticisms that have been repeatedly mentioned were class balancing, some UI elements, and the dungeons.
Regarding the dungeons, Blizzard has already issued a statement, which however led to dissatisfaction. Players have concerns that the endgame will become boring because everything repeats itself, especially in dungeons.
Balancing, on the other hand, is currently a point of contention among fans. Information is still lacking on how classes will play at level 50 and in Paragon. But already some voices are calling for Diablo 4 to be harder:
