On this day, June 25, 2024, the test servers for Season 5 of Diablo 4 go live. Players will have the opportunity to try out upcoming content for a week and provide feedback to the developers. Some can hardly wait for the start, while others seem skeptical.
What is known about Season 5? Season 5 will officially begin in Diablo 4 in August, but the servers for the PTR, the Public Test Realm, are set to go live today, June 25, 2024, at 7:00 PM for one week. You can find everything about the PTR here.
In advance, Wowhead has provided a first look at the upcoming content through datamining, which may differ from the previously known patch notes. The changes have made their way to the Subreddit for Diablo 4, where fans of the ARPG are actively discussing them.
Balancing adjustments, new aspects, and 14 new uniques
What can you expect in Season 5? According to the information from Wowhead, there will be a number of adjustments to the skills of the different classes, alongside changes to existing aspects and affixes in the game.
Players are particularly looking forward to the 14 new uniques that are set to be introduced in Diablo 5. Each class will receive 2 of these powerful items, with 5 additional items that can be used by all classes.
Bye-bye, Bash-Boys

, the upcoming content of Season 5 is discussed. The thread creator himself wistfully explains: “Man, I don’t even want to play Season 4 anymore… it’s a shame I’m on PS5 and can’t join the PTR.”
However, not everyone seems to expect the upcoming changes with the same enthusiasm. Which group you belong to may depend on which builds you prefer to play:
- Past_Lingonberry_633 bids farewell: “Goodbye, Bash-boys and Flay-boys”
- insan3ity, however, is optimistic: “Something else will rise and take its place. Barb will still be at the top.”
- EmiliuzDK is already heralding a new era: “So it’s Spin-to-Win season”
Reddit user Kunaak laments that one class seems to benefit particularly well from the changes: “If you’re a Barb, life is good; if you’re any other class… it’s… not great.” However, Reddit user Freeloader_ counters: That’s exactly what the PTR is for, so just send feedback.
For fans of the long-neglected Druids, the changes could be a glimmer of hope. Reddit user WashombiShwimp states: “With these minor changes for Druids, I’m now very convinced there will be a class rework for the expansion.”
Whether the planned changes will make it into the game will also depend on player feedback. Some criticisms could certainly still be resolved.
