With Vessel of Hatred, Diablo 4 receives its 1st expansion and introduces a new class that has never existed in Diablo before. How well it will be received remains to be seen – as the Spiritborn faces stiff competition. Classes from the past are still highly valued.
This is the new class:
- Spiritborn utilize the power of the spirit world to enhance their attacks. They are a hybrid class that combines four spirit tiers to create their own playstyle.
- The gameplay feels a bit like a mix of Druid, Amazon, and Monk with a touch of Witch Doctor.
- The new class appears as one of the major features of the first expansion. Here you can find all the information about the content and release of Vessel of Hatred.
We have already been able to play the Spiritborn. Here’s what the gameplay looks like:
This is what players are saying now: On Reddit, a user asks which class players plan to play in Season 6. Season 6 starts simultaneously with Vessel of Hatred and brings new skills for all classes.
For many players, a new season is a reason to try a new class. With Season 6, the Spiritborn would be a natural choice, at least if you own Vessel of Hatred. However, the top comments are expressing a very different opinion:
- The top comment definitely chooses the Monk: “No reason to play anything else.”
- Another user suggests that Crusader and Witch Doctor are much better.
- And a third player is still very attached to their Amazon.
Although the Monk has become a running joke, as the Spiritborn closely resembles the class from Diablo 3, the heroes from previous installments are still on players’ minds. Despite the fascination with the Spiritborn, the desire for old classes continues.
Players have been wishing for a very specific hero since release
It’s not new for players to discuss the heroes from past installments. Since the game’s release, fans have been wishing for something very specific: a hero with shield and sword, ideally connected to holy power.
Such a class at least existed in Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and Diablo Immortal with the Paladin and the Crusader.
Instead, Blizzard announced and created a completely new class in Diablo with the Spiritborn, even though the playstyle feels like an amalgam of all previous classes. However, this is not the first new class in the franchise in recent times:
- In Diablo Immortal, the Blood Knight appeared shortly after release.
- Players in Diablo Immortal have also introduced ‘the Storm’ as a new class.
In Diablo 4, the Spiritborn brings a new archetype of sorts: a martial-arts fighter with a nature background. The reason the Spiritborn is coming right now is specific: fans have been demanding a Paladin in Diablo 4 since release – the chief explains why you aren’t getting one now
