Near the town of “Ked Bardu”, in Diablo 4, you will find a side quest named “Reject the Mother”. This guide includes location and solution.
How do I get the quest “Reject the Mother”? To obtain the side quest, you first need to find a note. This is located in the Tusmaa Rift southeast of the waypoint “Ked Bardu” among smaller rocks and some enemies.
Once you have clicked on and read the note, you will be tasked with making your way to the statue and rejecting Lilith at her secret shrine. The statue of Lilith is now marked with a small blue circle.
The statue is hard to miss, as your quest marker leads you into a cave where it is surrounded by candles and sculptures.

How do I complete the quest “Reject the Mother”? To finish the quest, similar to the quest “Preserve the Ancient Traditions”, you must use an emote.
Here, you need to stand in front of the statue and perform the emote “No”. However, this emote is not included by default in your emote wheel. Further down, you will find out how to customize your wheel.

How to use and change emotes? Here are the keys for mouse and keyboard as well as controller:
- Keyboard: Opens the emote menu with “E”
- Use the mouse wheel to switch the emote tab
- Controller: Opens the emote menu with “D-pad up”
- Use L1/R1 or LB/RB to switch the emote tab
When you are in the emote menu, press “Triangle” or “Y” on the controller or select “Customize” with the mouse. In this menu, you can swap your emotes:
What do emotes do? With the help of emotes, it is possible to communicate with other players in Diablo 4. Furthermore, you can interact with various shrines to receive certain bonuses.
If you have questions about the emotes or the quest, please leave a comment. We are also open to ideas for further guides.
And to quickly exit a dungeon, you can also use your emote wheel.
