The Barbarians were among the strongest classes in Diablo 4, but that has changed with Season 9 – however, Blizzard is providing some buffs in the upcoming patch. Crafting materials will also be enhanced. We summarize the highlights from the patch notes for Patch 2.3.1 for you.
These are the highlights from the patch:
- With the upcoming patch, Blizzard will buff the Barbarians, who, with their builds, are currently at best in the middle of the strongest builds for endgame. But other classes will also receive some buffs.
- Additionally, there will be more Crafting Masterstones from the pit, and important crafting materials, like “Forgotten Souls,” will now drop more frequently from Horadric material supplies and chests during Legion events.
- You will now automatically collect Arcana, which you need for the Horadric spells in Season 9.
The patch also brings some bug fixes. The Patch 2.3.1 will be released on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. You can find the detailed German patch notes on page 2 of the article.
Blizzard brings buffs for the Barbarians
This is what the Barbarians can expect: Patch 2.3.1 brings some buffs for the Barbarians. You can find the exact numbers in the official patch notes on page 2 of the article, but here are the most important changes at a glance:
- Battle Trance: Increased critical hit chance and increased damage bonus
- Doubleswing, Hammer of the Ancients, Upheaval, Whirlwind: Increased damage
- Rending: Increased bleeding damage
- Thorned Armor: Increased thorn damage
But other classes also receive buffs. Blizzard increases the damage bonus for the Aspect of Pestilence of the Spirit-born, as well as the damage bonus from Reapers and Cutting Blades. Druids receive a buff for the damage of Pulverize. The sacrifice bonus for additional Golem damage from Necromancers will also be slightly higher.
Hunters will see an increase in the damage bonus from the unique “Death Mask of Nirmitruq,” and Sorcerers will receive buffs for the skill Meteor, the Aspect of the Frozen Orbit, and the Aspect of Frozen Memories.
More crafting materials, less loot stress
This is what the patch changes regarding loot: More crafting materials will drop from Legion event chests and chests in Nightmare dungeons with the affix “Horadric Material Supply” – including Forgotten Souls. In the pit, you’ll receive extra Crafting Masterstones:
- Level 70-84: 2-3 Crafting Masterstones
- Level 85-99: 4-6 Crafting Masterstones
- Level 100+: 8-9 Crafting Masterstones
All group members will then receive the experience granted by particles in Nightmare dungeons with the affix “Forgotten Wisdom,” so not just the one who picks up the particles will benefit. Additionally, more particles will appear and they will provide more XP.
Regarding looting, you no longer need to manually collect your Arcana. This was recently a topic of discussion in the community, as many players simply forgot to collect the important seasonal items – and then wondered why they were missing so many: “Do we have to pick those up?” – Players in Diablo 4 are missing important seasonal items because they forgot to loot them
