The preparatory patch 1.1 for Season 1 in Diablo 4 was not well received by the players at all. Blizzard has responded with some emergency measures. Among them is now the first change that is being reverted. World tiers no longer have a level requirement.
What’s wrong with patch 1.1?
- On July 18, the huge patch 1.1 was released with buffs and nerfs to almost everything in the game. The patch is meant to prepare for Season 1.
- Patch 1.1 is not well received by the fans. Everything has become harder, grinding is no longer fun, and wizards are now utterly useless.
- At least one change regarding the world tiers has already been revoked by Blizzard.
Which change was reverted? Since the patch, world tiers 3 and 4 had a level restriction downward. World tier 3 required level 40 to visit, and world tier 4 even level 60. This change was not even mentioned in the patch notes.
As community lead Adam Fletcher writes on Twitter, this change is now being reverted. Players can now visit the higher world tiers again as soon as they are capable with their build.
The change upset many fans because some players were already significantly ahead of the levels in the higher world tiers – to level up faster or to already play some of the new content that only comes with world tier 3.
On Reddit, the decision is well received. But players are not satisfied yet; they are demanding more.
“Good. And now the rest”
According to many fans, the reversal is at least a good first step toward improvement. However, it is not enough to make up for the damage caused by patch 1.1.
The players demand that other criticism points also be addressed, such as:
- less experience points when fighting harder opponents
- dungeons that suddenly become even harder
- hell tides where the good chests now cost significantly more and require more grinding
- general nerfs to classes, especially to the sorceress
Although there have also been some positive changes, several users on Reddit agree that the patch could simply be entirely reverted. No one would be sad about that; the previous status quo had been significantly better than it is now.
One particularly critical player even states: The patch has so far achieved the opposite of what it was meant to do. Instead of reigniting interest and encouraging players to play with the season, everything has only gotten worse. He has never seen anything like it.
Blizzard, on the other hand, has already noticed how poorly the new patch is received. In addition to the first change being reverted, a “emergency campfire chat” has already been announced, which aims to smooth out the waves:
