The “March of the Goblins” event is currently running in Diablo 4, and you can score a lot of loot from the treasure goblins. They also spawn at the world boss Avarice (Greed) – but their loot apparently disappears.
What kind of event is this? In the “March of the Goblins” event, more treasure goblins are currently spawning in Sanctuary, and they drop loot bags when you kill them. The event runs from August 27 at 7:00 PM to September 3 at 7:00 PM. Until this evening at 7:00 PM, the “Blessing of the Mother” event is also running – making farming even more worthwhile.
The goblins have a particularly high chance of spawning in groups during two activities:
- in dungeons with the “Shrine of Greed”
- if you find or craft dungeon seals, they might have the bonus that additional shrines appear
- at the world boss Avarice (Greed the Damned)
However, some players report that there is currently a bug with the world boss where the dropped loot simply disappears “into the ground”.

Tons of Loot – But It Disappears
Why does the loot disappear? Various players are currently reporting that while many treasure goblins spawn at the world boss “Avarice”, their loot apparently disappears. Even if you are quick, it’s hard to pick up a lot of it.
This is also shown by Diablo expert “Rob2628” in a clip on X. There he writes:
The Avarice world boss now spawns a TON of treasure goblins upon death in #DiabloIV. All together they drop so much loot that it can’t be fully displayed and simply “falls through the ground”.
This seems to be a technical limitation and occurs even if you kill an Uber Boss more than 8 times without [breaking down the loot in between]. I’ve seen many Uber Uniques disappear right in front of my eyes and drop straight into hell.
What do other players say? The disappearing loot is also currently a topic on Reddit. In a Reddit thread, “evlilenor” shows in a clip that the loot simply disappears. In another Reddit post, “MessiahX” writes that the Goblin event is an “obvious example” that Diablo 4 needs a loot filter.
He also has the problem of his loot disappearing:
With all the goblins spawning in nightmare dungeons after the use of greed shrines and the goblin spawn at the end of Avarice, it’s difficult to sift through the loot to find only boss mats, loot bags, items with great affixes (GAs), and unique items. When the items stack, parts of the loot eventually disappear.
In the comments, “Vulturo” notes that it is especially “super bad” on consoles. And “Sevulturus” states that the loot pets should automatically sell or break down items, as in Diablo 3. So far the little creatures that accompany you through Sanctuary only collect various materials.
A loot filter is currently not planned for Diablo 4. Instead, according to Diablo head Rod Fergusson, a kind of armory is in the works. When this will make it into the game is still unclear.
