With Season 6, numerous changes are coming to Diablo 4, particularly affecting the classes. On the PTR, some were simply too weak – especially the supposedly strong Barbarian. But that is set to change.
With Season 6 and the expansion “Vessel of Hatred,” Blizzard is overhauling fundamental mechanics in Diablo 4. The World Tiers will become Difficulty Levels, the progression system will be restructured – including a new max level of 60. Additionally, Paragon points will in the future be separated from character levels.
Blizzard is also adjusting class balance for the upcoming season. In the last livestream, the developers explained on October 2 that they would make adjustments to the classes based on the feedback from the PTR. The Barbarians had been too weak there and will be improved, but others will also receive buffs.
Season 6 adjusts all classes
New skills are coming for the five classes in Diablo 4 in Season 6, as well as some new Uniques and Mythic Uniques. Players were able to test the updates at the PTR in early September.
In the YouTube livestream, game designer Charles Dunn explained that the feedback from the PTR had been very helpful. It helps the team to make all classes as fun and engaging as possible, the developer states.
What changes for the Barbarian? Barbarians are among the strongest classes in Diablo 4 and are known for crazy OP builds that were often nerfed. However, on the PTR, the class performed too weakly, according to the developers. That is set to change soon.
The skill “Stir Up” is set to receive a damage improvement – from 88% to 100%. The damage bonus of the item “Twin Strikes” will also be increased from 10-40% to 30-60%. Other items will also be improved.
What changes for the Druid? The Druid was also not strong enough on the PTR for Season 6. Regarding the central passive ability “Wrath of Nature,” a problem that occurred on the test server will be fixed. Additionally, Paragon nodes will be revamped.
The developers are also adjusting an aspect as well as the “Grand Staff of the Vettel” concerning the damage bonus. The affix “Critical Hit Damage” will be replaced; instead, the staff will gain the affix that allows “Storm Strike” to affect twice.
What changes for the Necromancer? The Necromancer had been too “squishy” on the PTR and simply lacked enough defense. Therefore, the primary changes here will be to the defensive bonuses of skills, but also those affecting damage.
The skill “Bloody Harvest” will receive higher damage reduction. The central passive skill “Kalans Edict” will allow minions not only an increased attack speed but also increased damage per active minion. Overall, the companions of the Necromancer will be strengthened with some buffs. In Season 4, the minion build was one of the strongest builds in the game.

What changes for the Rogues? The Rogue has performed quite well on the PTR according to the developers, receiving a lot of positive feedback, especially for the new skill “Dance of Knives.” In return, however, some other skills are being adjusted.
The passive skill “Punish” was reportedly bugged on the PTR and will be adjusted. The skill “Arrow Rain” will receive an increase in damage bonuses, as will the hardening recipes for that skill. Additionally, the infusion bonus for “Arrow Rain” will be increased.
What changes for the Sorceresses? On the PTR, the Sorceress was “definitely the strongest class,” explains Charles Dunn. Especially the new central passive skill “Enlightenment” has been well received by players. However, it has caused errors, which will be revised. The skill is still expected to be strong afterwards.
Furthermore, items are being revised, such as the wand “The Oculus.” Instead of the current affix for teleport size, there will now be a chance that teleportation will deal double damage.

Community Director Adam Fletcher emphasizes in the livestream that these are not all the changes being made to the classes and skills in Diablo 4 with Season 6. A complete overview can be found in the patch notes on the Blizzard website.
Game designer Charles Dunn explains in the livestream that the team is closely monitoring feedback about the classes – whether it’s about which builds are fun, whether something is over- or underpowered, or how players are playing the classes. This feedback helps the developers make the game as good as possible, Dunn notes.
Also, the new skills of the five classes coming with Season 6 in Diablo 4 will be reviewed again before the launch on October 8. Some will see their damage increased, and in some cases affixes or aspects will be adjusted. You can see which new skills are added in Season 6 in Diablo 4 in our overview.
