Diablo 4 brings some new features compared to its predecessors. One of them is elixirs, which you can use for limited-time bonuses. However, these elixirs are often forgotten, especially by veterans.
What do I need to click? You have a special tab for “Consumables” in your inventory. This is where elixirs and later keystones for Nightmare dungeons are collected.
You can find elixirs in all kinds of chests, receive them as quest rewards, or you can craft them at the alchemist. The elixirs have various effects and strengths, but always provide +5% experience points. They last for 30 minutes.
Due to the effect, we recommend in our guide for fast leveling, to always use elixirs. But also for Paragon and to get through endgame content more easily, it is worth using them. Just don’t forget that you have them, which can happen quickly.
However, with a quick hand movement, you can significantly reduce the chance of overlooking them by simply putting the elixirs on the emote wheel.
You can find all guides and tips for Diablo 4 in our summary . In the video, we reveal a simple trick:
Putting elixirs on the emote wheel for quick access
This way, you remember the items more easily: By pressing the “E” key (PC) or the up directional pad (Xbox, PlayStation), you can access your emote wheels. You have a total of 3 available, which you can freely assign functions to.
Through “Customize,” you can assign one of your elixirs to any slot using the “Consumables” tab. If you want even quicker access, you can assign a hotkey to each slot in the emote wheel through the key mapping in the options.
This way, you have quick access to one or more elixirs at any time. You just have to remember that you have them and not accidentally use an emote. That has already cost one player 150 hours of gameplay.
Which elixir should I use? It doesn’t really matter as you mainly want the experience effect. However, you can also significantly ease your gameplay with the elixirs. It’s best to choose based on what you want to do at the moment:
- for dungeons, take an elixir that strengthens you against corresponding enemies – like animals or undead
- if you want to defeat Hellfludes to quickly get to the strong chests, throw in a Demon-Slaying elixir
- if you need more defense for certain fights, take an elixir with armor or resistances, where armor is generally stronger
There are also elixirs that generally strengthen your offensive stats, such as critical hit rating, or those that increase your maximum resources. These can even be useful for certain builds in the absolute endgame to further boost your damage. You can find tips on this in our tier list:
