For the release of Diablo 4, a total of five classes are playable. Theoretically, it would be possible for more classes to be added throughout the seasons. For Season 2, a class from Diablo Immortal would be a great fit. However, Blizzard has already confirmed that this class will not be coming to Diablo 4.
Which class is it about? Season 2 thematically revolves around vampires and their insatiable thirst. Therefore, it would be fitting if the Blood Knight from Diablo Immortal would come as a new class to the game.
- The Blood Knight is a mix of Paladin/Crusader and vampire. He can shift between a human and beast form, just like the Druid.
- He uses blood magic and close combat to shred enemies.
- The class has only been available in Diablo Immortal since July 13, 2023, making it the first new class in over nine years.
The Blood Knight would fit well into Season 2 of Diablo 4 for several reasons. So far, it has not been announced that there will be a new class in Season 2. Nevertheless, there was hope that the Blood Knight would enter the game due to its theme.
However, the General Manager of the Diablo universe, Rod Fergusson, recently dispelled this assumption. In an interview with 4players, he revealed that the overlap of the vampire themes is purely coincidental:
Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal are two very different games with two very different teams and two different technologies. So it’s more of a coincidence that the team had this kind of vampire. It has somehow aligned over time. But no, the Blood Knight will not appear in Diablo 4.
This means that not only will the Blood Knight not be part of Season 2 in Diablo 4. Even worse, Fergusson’s statement suggests that the Blood Knight might not even find his way into the game with future updates. Thus, the Vampire Knight remains a mobile-exclusive class.

Which class could come next instead? Many players feel that Diablo 4 is missing the Paladin class. The holy warrior is also highly regarded by you and is the most requested class, as a survey on MeinMMO shows.
The Paladin has been around since Diablo 2 and would be a good addition to the existing five classes. There are even some hints that the class might make it after Diablo 4.
Other conceivable classes could include the Monk, the Witch Doctor, or the Amazon. Blizzard has already indicated that more classes will follow, but probably only with later expansions. Accordingly, the seasons are likely to proceed without new classes.
According to MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus, it is not a shame if you take a short break from Diablo 4: Diablo 4 is the perfect game not to play.
