For Diablo 3 players, a new season is just around the corner. In just a few days, season 16 will start and entice many players into the Greater Nephalem Rifts. In leaderboards, you can compete with other players again. This time there is a special season theme that replaces an important item.
Diablo 3 Season 16 Start for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch
On Friday, January 18, 2019, season 16 in Diablo 3 will start. As usual, the new season is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM German time.
When does Season 16 start on PS4 and Xbox One and Nintendo Switch? Console players will have to wait a few hours longer. For them, season 16 starts on January 19 at 2:00 AM CET.
When does Season 16 end? Expected on March 17, 2019, at 5:00 PM.
What is the season theme?
The new season is again under a special theme. This time, it is the Ring of Royal Grandeur, which is passively activated for all season characters. You no longer need to equip the ring to benefit from its bonuses.
What does the Ring of Royal Grandeur provide? It reduces the required items for set bonuses by 1. Instead of six pieces, you only need to equip five parts for the 6-piece set bonus.
Can I stack the Ring of Royal Grandeur? Unfortunately no. You cannot equip a second ring to further reduce the number of required items.
Haedrig’s Gift – Which sets are given away?
In each season, you can unlock certain sets by completing milestone goals. These sets arrive as Haedrig’s Gift by mail to your characters.
What is in Haedrig’s Gifts? Each of Haedrig’s Gifts contains a few pieces of a class set. Which set is included depends on the class you open it with.
By progressing through the season journey, you unlock rewards that are visually noticeable. There are skins for the head and shoulders of the exclusive Conqueror set, a new series of portrait frames, and a special pair of wings, the Wings of Lempo.

Patch Notes for Patch 2.6.4 – What’s New in Season 16?
The new patch brings some balance changes. Blizzard’s plan is to elevate as many sets to the same power level as possible. This is intended to bring more variety to the leaderboards. Players should have greater choices in builds and still be able to compete with the best.
When ancient items are dropped by enemies, you should now see this more clearly. There is now a red beam that shines from the item into the sky.
New Symbol on Minimap: If you miss the red beam in the chaos of many monsters, the ancient item will be displayed with this symbol on the minimap.
