The beta test of the Necromancer in Diablo 3 has started, and the first selected players can already begin testing. In this article, we provide an overview of the skills and passive abilities of the Necromancer currently available.

Primary Skills of the Necromancer
Bone Spikes
Basic Skill (Physical)
Produces: 24 Essence
Causes Bone Spikes to erupt from the ground, dealing 150 % weapon damage per second.
Stunning Spikes (Physical)
Bone Spikes stun enemies for 1 sec.
Bone Path (Physical)
Causes a series of spikes to erupt from the ground, dealing 100 % weapon damage. The spikes deal up to 100 % more damage to distant enemies.
Bone Stakes (Poison)
Impales the target and up to two nearby enemies with large bone stakes, dealing 150 % weapon damage.
Frost Spikes (Cold)
The spikes leave a frost area that reduces enemy movement speed by 60 % for 2 sec.
Blood Spikes (Physical)
Enemies hit bleed, taking 50 % weapon damage over 2 sec. Meanwhile, you heal for 0.5 % of your maximum life.
Blood Sucking
Basic Skill (Physical)
Produces: 15 Essence every time damage is dealt
Sucks the blood from the targeted enemy, dealing 300 % weapon damage.
While ‘Blood Sucking’ is channeled, you heal for 2 % of your maximum life every second.
Blood Loss (Cold)
Also slows enemies by 75 %.
Pure Essence (Physical)
Produces 20 Essence when at full health instead.
Life Drain (Physical)
Increases healing to 6 % life, but no longer produces Essence.
Power Shift (Poison)
Each time ‘Blood Sucking’ deals damage to the target, damage is increased by 10 %. Stacks up to 10 times.
Healing Pull (Physical)
Pulls all healing orbs within 40 meters toward you while channeling.
Death Scythe
Basic Skill (Physical)
Produces: 12 Essence per enemy hit
Swings a summoned scythe in front of you, dealing 150 % weapon damage as physical damage.
Blood Scythe (Physical)
Heals you by 1 % of your life per enemy hit.
Decapitation (Physical)
Has a 5 % chance to decapitate and instantly kill enemies with less than 20 % health.
Frost Scythe (Cold)
Each enemy hit increases your attack speed by 1 % for 5 sec. Can stack up to 15 times.
Twin Scythes (Physical)
Swings two summoned scythes in front of you, dealing 150 % weapon damage as physical damage and pulling enemies together.
Cursed Scythe (Poison)
You have a 15 % chance to curse enemies hit with a random curse.
Secondary Skills of the Necromancer
Death Nova
Basic Skill (Poison)
Cost: 20 Essence
Unleashes a nova that deals 350 % weapon damage to all enemies within 25 meters.
Tentacle Nova (Physical)
Each enemy hit heals you for 1 % of your life and reduces the damage dealt to 225 %.
Bone Nova (Physical)
Causes bone spikes to shoot from the ground, dealing 475 % weapon damage to enemies within 12 meters.
Blood Nova (Physical)
Consumes 10 % life and unleashes a blood nova that deals 450 % weapon damage to all enemies within 25 meters.
Plague (Poison)
Leaves a contaminated area on the ground that slows enemies by 60 % and reduces the damage they deal by 15 % for 1 sec.
Instable Link (Poison)
Each use increases the radius of your next ‘Death Nova’ by 5 meters. Can stack up to 2 times.
Bone Spear
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 20 Essence
Summons a piercing bone projectile that deals 450 % weapon damage to all hit enemies.
Crystallization (Cold)
Reduces the attack speed of each enemy hit by 20 % for 3 sec and increases your own by 3 %. Can stack up to 10 times.
Shatter (Physical)
Instead of piercing enemies, the bone projectile now explodes upon hitting the first enemy, dealing 450 % damage to all enemies within 15 meters.
Contaminated Mark (Poison)
Causes 15 % more damage after each pierced enemy.
Blood Spear (Physical)
‘Bone Spear’ becomes ‘Blood Spear’. This deals 518 % weapon damage, but costs 10 % life.
Teeth (Physical)
Throws 5 sharp teeth that deal 300 % weapon damage to enemies in front of you.
Skeleton Mage
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 40 Essence
Raises a corpse as a skeleton that attacks your enemies. The skeleton deals 400 % weapon damage per attack. Remains for 6 sec.
Gift of Death (Physical)
Raised skeletons leave a corpse when they die or decay.
Singularity (Physical)
Consumes all Essence to summon a powerful servant. The damage done by the servant increases by 3 % for each point of Essence spent.
Life Transfer (Physical)
Costs 10 % life to summon mages. They remain for an additional 2 sec.
Contamination (Poison)
Raises a contaminated mage that channels an aura of decay, dealing 175 % weapon damage during its duration.
Skeleton Archer (Cold)
Raises a skeleton archer that deals 400 % weapon damage.
Skeleton archers increase your attack speed by 3 % for 5 sec each time they deal damage. Can stack up to 10 times.
Blood and Bone Abilities of the Necromancer
Bone Armor
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 10 Essence
Cooldown: 10 sec.
Rips bones from nearby enemies, dealing 150 % weapon damage. Turns the bones into armor, reducing damage taken per enemy hit by 3 %, up to a maximum of 10 enemies. Bone Armor lasts for 60 sec.

Increases the damage dealt to enemies by 200 %.

Your armor absorbs all damage for 5 sec., making you immune to all loss of control effects.
Twist (Physical)
Also stuns hit enemies for 2 sec.
Bone Strengthening (Physical)
Cost: 20 % life
Increases your life per second per enemy hit by 10 %.
Tormented Harvest (Physical)
‘Bone Armor’ additionally increases your movement speed per enemy hit by 1 %.
Bone Spirit
Basic Skill (Physical)
Sends out a bone spirit that chases enemies. Deals 4,000 % damage upon impact.
You receive a charge every 15 sec. and can store up to 3 charges. The charge time is reduced by 1 sec. for each devoured corpse.
Possession (Physical)
The bone spirit now charms its target for 10 sec., but costs 10 % life.
Panic Attack (Poison)
Upon impact, the bone spirit instills fear in enemies within 10 meters for 2 sec.
Poltergeist (Cold)
Increases the maximum number of charges to 4.
Open Account (Cold)
Upon impact, the bone spirit deals 1250 % weapon damage to all enemies within 10 meters.
Astral Projection (Cold)
Each enemy hit by the bone spirit on the way to its target increases its damage by 15 %.
Bloody Paths
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cooldown: 5 sec.
Cost: 5 % life
Shedding your mortal coil, you re-emerge up to 50 meters away.
Transfusion (Physical)
Heals you for 2 % of your maximum life for each enemy passed through.
Hemostasis (Physical)
‘Bloody Paths’ no longer costs life.
Metabolism (Physical)
Bloody Paths now has 2 charges, but costs twice as much life.
Power of Blood (Physical)
Increases your armor after use by 100 % for 2 sec.
Mortal Remains (Physical)
You leave a corpse at your original position.
Simulacrum
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 50 % life
Cooldown: 120 sec.
Creates a simulacrum from blood that duplicates your essence spenders for 15 sec.
Reservoir (Physical)
An active simulacrum increases your maximum essence by 100 %.
Cursed Form (Physical)
While ‘Cursed Form’ is active, each of your curse skills triggers all three curses.

An active simulacrum reduces the life cost of your skills by 75 %.
Blood and Bone (Physical)
Additionally creates a simulacrum from bone, but reduces the duration to 10 sec.
Death Sacrifice (Physical)
If you take a fatal blow while your simulacrum is active, the simulacrum sacrifices itself instead and fully heals you.
Reanimation Skills of the Necromancer
Land of the Dead
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cooldown: 120 sec.
All corpse-based skills can be used any number of times for 5 sec.
Empowerment (Physical)
Your skills cost no essence while ‘Land of the Dead’ is active.
Frozen Land (Physical)
Enemies in the area of ‘Land of the Dead’ are regularly frozen.
Plaguelands (Poison)
‘Land of the Dead’ deals up to 5000 % weapon damage to enemies during its duration.
Land of Abundance (Physical)
While ‘Land of the Dead’ is active, you heal for 2 % of your maximum life for each enemy you kill.
Quick Burial (Physical)
For every 10 enemies killed, the duration is extended by 1 sec., up to a maximum of 2 sec.
Command Skeletons
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 50 Essence
Active: Command your skeleton servants to attack a target and increase their damage by 50 % for 5 sec.
Passive: Raises skeletons from the ground every 2 sec. (maximum 7). Skeleton servants deal 50 % weapon damage per successful attack.
Executor (Physical)
Reduces the active essence costs to 25.
Dark Healing (Physical)
Skeleton servants heal you for 0.5 % of your maximum life per hit while you command them.
Freezing Grip (Cold)
The target of your command is frozen for 3 sec.
Murder Command (Poison)
Let your skeleton servants rush an enemy and explode. Deals 80 % weapon damage to enemies in the area of 15 meters.
Frenzy (Physical)
Your active skeleton servants enter a frenzy, increasing their attack speed by 25 % for the duration of the effect.
Command Golem
Basic Skill (Poison)
Cooldown: 60 sec.
Active: Commands the golem to a target location, where it dissolves into a pile of corpses made of 5 corpses.
Passive: Raises a flesh golem that fights for you. The flesh golem deals 450 % weapon damage per attack.
Bone Golem (Physical)
Active: Transforms the golem into a bone tornado that carries all nearby enemies to the target location and stuns them for 2 sec.
Blood Golem (Physical)
Active: Commands the golem to sacrifice itself, healing you for 25 % of your life and reforming at the target location. While the golem is reforming, wildly flailing veins deal 450 % weapon damage to nearby enemies.
Decay Golem (Poison)
Active: Commands the golem to devour corpses at the target location. Each devoured corpse increases its damage by 30 %.
Flesh Golem (Poison)
Active: Commands the golem to a target location, where it dissolves into a pile of corpses with 8 usable corpses.
Ice Golem (Cold)
Active: Commands the golem to a target location, where it freezes enemies for 3 sec. Frozen enemies have a 10 sec. chance to suffer 10 % increased critical hit chance.
Army of the Dead
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cooldown: 120 sec.
Raises an army of skeletons that attack the target location. The skeletons deal 3000 % weapon damage to all enemies within 15 meters.
Catatonic Grip (Poison)
Hands shoot from the ground, incapacitating enemies for 5 sec.
Frozen Army (Cold)
Increases weapon damage by 3600 % and the skeletons attack all enemies in a line.
Unconventional Warfare (Physical)
Raises a skeleton army that attacks random targets for 4 sec.

The skeleton army pushes all affected enemies toward the center.
Dead Storm (Physical)
Unleashes a storm of the dead around you, dealing 2000 % weapon damage to nearby enemies over 5 sec.

Withering
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 10 Essence
A crippling curse that reduces enemy movement speed by 75 % and their damage dealt by 20 %. Lasts for 30 sec.
Opportunist (Physical)
Increases your movement speed by 3 % per cursed enemy.
Gift of Time (Physical)
Gains 1 % cooldown reduction per cursed enemy.
Wither (Physical)
Increases damage reduction to 30 %, but removes the slow.
Dizziness (Physical)
Successful hits have a 10 % chance to stun cursed enemies for 2 sec.
Weakening (Physical)
Strengthens the slow in the first 5 sec.
Frailty
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 10 Essence
A crippling curse that kills enemies with less than 15 % of their maximum life. Lasts for 30 sec.

Cursed enemies explode upon death and deal 100 % weapon damage.
Blood Stench (Physical)

Turns the skill into an aura that curses all enemies within 15 meters.
The range of this effect is increased by 50 % of your gold pickup radius.
An Early Grave (Physical)
Triggers at 18 % life, but costs 10 % of your life.
Eel Curse
Basic Skill (Physical)
Cost: 10 Essence
The target area is cursed. Successful attacks against cursed enemies have a chance to heal the attacker for 1 % of their maximum life. Lasts for 30 sec.
Infection (Physical)
Enemies that die during the curse’s duration transfer the curse to an untouched nearby target.
Final Drain (Physical)
When a cursed enemy dies, you heal for 200 % of your life for each enemy killed.
Cursed Ground (Physical)
Applies a curse to the target area, healing you for each enemy per second in the cursed area for 0.5 % of your maximum life.
Blood Flask (Physical)
When a cursed enemy dies, your potion cooldown is reduced by 1 sec.
Osmosis (Physical)
Each cursed enemy increases your life regeneration per second by 751.
Corpse Abilities of the Necromancer
Corpse Explosion
Basic Skill (Physical)
Causes all corpses in a 11 meter target area to explode, dealing 150 % weapon damage to enemies within 20 meters.
Last Embrace (Physical)
The corpses are pulled towards the next enemy before they explode, costing ‘Corpse Explosion’ 3 % life per corpse.
Eerie Proximity (Poison)
Causes corpses near you to explode, dealing 200 % weapon damage to enemies within 20 meters.
Bloody Seriousness (Physical)
Increases the explosion radius to 25 meters.
Death Cold (Cold)
Freezes all enemies caught in the explosion for 2 sec.
Shrapnel (Poison)
The corpses now explode in the opposite direction to you, hitting all targets in a cone-shaped area.
Cadaver Lances
Basic Skill (Physical)
Targets an enemy and creates projectiles from nearby corpses, dealing 750 % weapon damage to it.
Wearing Touch (Cold)
Hits with ‘Cadaver Lances’ soften your enemies, increasing their chance to land critical hits by 5 % for 5 sec.
Blood Lance (Physical)
Costs 5 % of your maximum life to throw an additional lance at the target, dealing 250 % weapon damage.
Bloody Force (Physical)
‘Cadaver Lances’ stuns the target for 3 sec.
Rending Shards (Poison)
Hits slow the target by 10 sec. for 10 % and reduce their damage by 6 %. Can stack up to 5 times.
Ricochet (Physical)
‘Cadaver Lances’ has a 20 % chance to hit a second target.
Devour
Basic Skill (Physical)
Devours corpses within 60 meters, restoring 10 Essence per corpse.
Relentless (Physical)
Additionally devours your servants, restoring 10 Essence for each servant killed.
Greedy (Physical)
Reduces all essence costs by 2 % for 5 sec. per devoured corpse.
Devouring Aura (Physical)
Turns the skill into an aura that devours all corpses within 15 meters, restoring 11 Essence per corpse.
The range of this effect is increased by 50 % of your gold pickup radius.
Satisfied (Physical)
Increases your maximum life by 2 % for 2 sec. for each devoured corpse.
Cannibalistic (Physical)
Each devoured corpse also restores 3 % life.
Reanimate
Basic Skill (Physical)
Targets an area and reanimates up to 10 corpses within 20 meters.
Ritual Sacrifice (Physical)
Increases the damage of revived creatures by 20 %, but each use of ‘Reanimate’ now costs 3 % life.
Bodyguard (Physical)
Damage received is reduced by 1 % per active revived servant.
Blind Rage (Physical)
Revived servants deal an additional 150 % damage but only last for 6 sec. Damage dealt is converted to cold damage.

When you revive a corpse, enemies within 20 meters flee in fear for 3 sec.
Purgatory (Physical)
Revived servants become usable corpses again after their lifespan ends.
Passive Skills of the Necromancer
Powerful Death
Devouring a corpse increases your movement speed by 3 % for 5 sec.
Life After Death
There is a 20 % chance that an additional healing orb appears when devouring a corpse.
Lone Wolf
Increases your armor by 100 %. Reduces your armor by 10 % per active servant.
Bone Prison
‘Bone Spear’, ‘Bone Spikes’, and ‘Bone Spirit’ have a 10 % chance to imprison enemies in a bone prison for 3 sec.
Leader of the Dead
Essence costs for ‘Command Skeletons’ and cooldown of ‘Command Golem’ are reduced by 30 %.
Rapid Harvest
Increases the attack speed of ‘Bone Spikes’, ‘Blood Sucking’, and ‘Death Scythe’ by 15 %.
Forbidden Creation
Your servants receive 200 % of your thorn damage.
Eternal Torments
Your curses cost 50 % less essence and last indefinitely.
Blood for Blood
Picking up a healing orb negates the life cost of your next blood spell. This effect can stack up to 3 times.
Blood is Power
Each time you lose 5 % life, all remaining cooldowns are reduced by 1 %.
Life Drain
Increases life regeneration for each enemy within 20 meters by 10 %.
Extended Servitude
Increases the duration of your summoned servants from ‘Raise Dead’ or ‘Reanimate’ by 25 %.
Last Service
If you take lethal damage, all servants are sacrificed instead. You heal for 10 % of your life. This effect can occur only once every 60 sec.
Gruesome Tribute
When your servants hit an enemy, you heal for 10 % of your life per hit.
Overwhelming Essence
Increases the maximum essence by 40.
Rathma’s Shield
After using ‘Land of the Dead’, ‘Army of the Dead’, or ‘Simulacrum’, you cannot lose life for 4 sec.
Dark Harvest
While wielding a scythe, you gain 1 % essence and life per enemy killed.
Rigor Mortis
Pestilence skills also slow affected enemies by 30 % for 5 sec. and reduce their attack speed by 15 %.
Toothed
‘Bone Spikes’, ‘Bone Spear’, and ‘Bone Spirit’ deal an additional 1 % damage for every 2 meters between you and the target, up to a maximum of 15 %.
Hexes, Blood, and Summoned Servants
With his abilities, the Necromancer functions in many playstyles. He has high-range skills, melee attacks, and abilities for his servants. You can choose whether to sacrifice life to become stronger with your blood abilities or to maintain control over an army of undead servants.
