With Patch 2.4, the developers of Diablo 3 brought new challenges to the game: including set portals.
You can find these challenges in so-called set portals. You can enter such a portal if you have the 6-piece set bonus of a set active. Any single set of a class can be used to open a portal, but each set opens a different set portal with different tasks. For example, you must complete the main tasks to unlock various achievements.
If you complete all tasks with each set of a class, you will receive a banner as a reward. Since this must be completed individually for each class, you can obtain a total of 6 different banners as rewards. If you manage to master all possible 24 set portals, you will get the popular green wings as an extra reward.
The Path to Set Portals
Finding the portals is not that difficult.
First, you need to equip a complete set or activate the 6-piece bonus of a set (the Ring of Royal Grandeur works here too!). Then, teleport to Act 1 to the waypoint “Courtyard of Leoric’s Estate”.
Upon arrival, enter the estate and take the right staircase to reach an area called “the royal chambers”.
Pretty high up, you will find the library, where you will find the “Tome of Set Portals” on a lectern.
If you click on this tome once, a page called “Tormenting Questions” will fall down. If you click on the tome again, you will get a helpful page that gives you hints about the location of the set portal of the currently active set. If you have been playing Diablo 3 for a while, you can quickly find the place where the portal is located using these hints. However, if you are not very familiar with the world of Diablo 3, just follow these directions.
Witch Doctor – Here are the Set Portals for the Witch Doctor
Set: Spirit of Arachyr
Path: Act 2 – “The Oasis of Dhalgur” – From this waypoint, you need to run southwest to find the set portal at the outer edge of the area.
Set: Helltooth Harness
Path: Act 1 – “The Royal Crypts” – From the waypoint, you walk to the entrance of Leoric’s Tomb – the set portal is located northeast next to the sarcophagus.
Set: Zunimassa
Path: Act 3 – “The Core of Arreat” – Here, you just need to walk towards Azmodan. The portal is located right near the entrance to Azmodan.
Set: Jade Harvest
Path: Act 4 – “Gardens of Hope Level 1” – You will find the portal right near the entrance.

Set: Akkhan’s Armor
Path: Act 3 – “Armory of the Bastion” – You can find the armory in the Bastion Citadel.
Set: Roland’s Legacy
Path: Act 2 – “Road to Alcarnus” – Here, simply follow the road west.
Set: Thorns of the Invoker
Path: Act 1 – “New Tristram” – From the town, exit through the east exit and follow the path south, to the start of the campaign.
Set: Seekers of Light
Path: Act 2 “Ancient Waterway” – In the dungeon section “Flooded Passage,” which opens after activating the lever, you will find the portal.
Barbarian – Here are the 4 Set Portals for the Barbarian
Set: Call of the Immortal King
Path: Act 3 – “Ruins of Sescheron” – You will find the set portal on the right side after passing through the first gate.
Set: Wrath of the Wastes
Path: Act 5 – “Fortress of Madness Level 1” – From the teleport point, simply walk back. At the stairs, you will find the portal.
Set: Earthquake
Path: Act 2 – “The City of Caldeum” – Just before the entrance to Belial stands the portal for this set.
Set: The Legacy of Raekor
Path: Act 5 – “Enclave of the Survivors” – From the Enclave, head west to the overgrown ruins. Near the Blood Marsh you will find the portal.
Demon Hunter – Here are the 4 Set Portals for the Demon Hunter
Set: Natalya’s Vengeance
Path: Act 1 – “Cellar of the Chapel of Wortham” – You just need to traverse the cellar and exit. The portal is upstairs.
Set: Gear of the Marauder
Path: Act 3 – “The Bridges of Corsick/Rakkis Crossing” – Essentially, you just need to get to the ballista in the lava lake. Depending on the waypoint, you need to run southwest or northeast.
Set: The Shadow’s Mantle
Path: Act 5 – “Fortress of Madness Level 2” – From the waypoint, head towards Level 3. The portal can be found on the direct way to Malthael.
Set: Unholy Essence
Path: Act 2 – “Howling Plateau” – From this waypoint, simply run south through the canyon.
Wizard – Here are the 4 Set Portals for the Mage
Set: Delseres Opus Magnum
Path: Act 3 – “Citadel of the Bastion” – You leave the citadel through the eastern entrance, turn right at the intersection, and find the mentioned entrance there.
Set: Glory of the Firebird
Path: Act 2 – “The Desolate Sands” – The portal is located right near the entrance to the Archives of Zoltun Kull
Set: Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
Path: Act 3 – “Rakkis Crossing” – You will find the set portal all the way to the west of Rakkis Crossing.
Set: Tal Rasha’s Elements
Path: Act 1 – “The Ancient Ruins” – After teleporting to the waypoint “The Ancient Ruins”, follow the road to Old Tristram and you will come across the portal along the way.
Monk – Here’s How to Get to the Set Portals for the Monk
Set: Inna’s Mantra
Path: Act 2 – “The City of Caldeum” – Use the exit Gates of Caldeum. From there, go into the sewer “Flooded Hall” to find the portal at the end of the hall.
Set: Monkey King’s Garb
Path: Act 4 – “The Silver Tower Level 2” – From the waypoint, you need to enter the portal of the Heavenly Spire. You will find the set portal at the upper left of this room.
Set: Mantle of the Thousand Storms
Path: Act 1 – “The Ancient Ruins” – From the waypoint, run northwest. After a few meters, you will already find the portal there.
Set: Uliana’s Trick
Path: Act 5 – “The Enclave of the Survivors” – You will find the portal in the Zakarum Cathedral, which is just a few steps from the waypoint.
Diablo 3 has changed significantly in recent years. New torment levels, seasons, and sets have been added.
