The new role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has faced massive criticism regarding its pricing policy after its release announcement for Steam and PS5. However, that is set to change, but some players will have to do something about it.
Why was there criticism? During gamescom 2025, alongside the release date for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 on October 21, 2025, the various editions and their prices were presented. However, they did not go down well with players, as the pricing policy particularly upset them.
The problem is: Some of the particularly popular clans that you can choose for your character are apparently already hidden behind DLCs at launch, which you can currently only obtain with the purchase of the Premium Edition.
Whether and for how much money the individual clans would be available remained unclear. However, as a developer announced via Reddit, that is set to change, as they have taken the fans’ criticism to heart.

What will change? The development team has already promised in the official Discord channel (via Resetera) that they would listen to player feedback and make adjustments to the price before release to accommodate that.
Via Reddit, it was also confirmed once again that all details about the changes will be released on September 17, 2025. It has already been revealed that all players who pre-ordered the Premium Edition will receive a refund. Buyers on Steam will not have to do anything further, as they will automatically receive a partial refund.
Things would look different for players on PlayStation 5 who bought the pre-order in the store. Those players will be contacted starting September 8, 2025, and will receive a full refund. They will then have to purchase the game again before the release once the price adjustments are made.
How high these refunds will be or whether the two clans currently hidden behind DLCs will become part of the main game is still unclear. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until September 17 for this information.
