Which elements are being discussed? The Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, gave an interview at gamescom with PC Gamer, where he also spoke about the influence of Warhammer on other video games and movies. This particularly concerns the Space Marines.
The Space Marines were originally shaped by the first Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader 37 years ago. Today, many people, including developers from other studios, envision space soldiers in heavy armor and with heavy weaponry. But the gameplay mechanics of Warhammer 40,000 have also made their way into other games repeatedly.

The influence of Warhammer 40,000 goes back many years
What does the developer say about young people? In response to the question of how Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 would stand out from other action games, Willits said: “It’s very Doom.” Doom is one of the games that has been most strongly inspired by Warhammer.
Many young gamers are probably not aware of what influence it had on their favorite game.

Which games have been influenced by Warhammer 40,000? Warhammer 40,000 has influenced many different games. Tim Willits gives several examples:
- The Doomguy from Doom was shaped by Warhammer 40,000 in his appearance and demeanor, resembling the classic Space Marines.
- Doom from 2016 was inspired for its aggressive “push-forward” combat system by Space Marine from 2011.
- In Gears of War, the chainsaw bayonet resembles the chainsword of the Space Marines from Warhammer 40,000.
- The makers of Fallout probably also looked to Warhammer. The developer sees the similarities between the Power Armor and the armor of the Space Marines.
- The film Starship Troopers also features aliens that strongly resemble the Tyranids from Warhammer 40,000.
There will probably be many more games, movies, or books inspired by Warhammer 40,000. The universe surrounding the Space Marines has existed for 37 years and continues to produce new games and stories.
