In 2022, millions of players discussed a shooter because it looked really realistic. Now the developer has returned after a long silence.
What kind of shooter is this? In 2022, a developer named Alexandre “esankiy” Spindler showcased a video of the game he is currently working on: UNRECORD, a shooter from the perspective of a so-called bodycam on X.com.
A bodycam is a camera mounted on the body, such as those used by the US police. Spindler and his team use this perspective in combination with Unreal Engine 5 to create a deceptively realistic image.
Within a day, the posted clip of the shooter was viewed over 3.5 million times. The opinion of many players under the post was clear: It looks incredibly realistic and was partially confused with real camera footage. The post has since been displayed over 93 million times.
“Still Alive”
What is the new development? There was a long period of silence on Spindler’s X profile. While there were occasional updates on the development in 2024, there was not a single post from the developer in 2025. This did not go unnoticed by the community. A post with over 170,000 “likes” speculated on X.com that the developer might no longer be alive.
Other comments believe that he may have abandoned the development of the game, as the special “gimmick” of the game has been adopted by other developers. For example, the shooter “Bodycam” was released on Steam in 2024.
This is the sign of life: Following the post, the developer returned with a short message to his followers. He writes: “Still alive, it is getting closer”.
Spindler suggests that the release of UNRECORD is approaching. However, he did not specify when exactly to expect a release or an announcement of a release date. It remained with the short sentence.
