The exotic sniper rifle Zen Meteor can be found by Guardians since the April update. It is a PlayStation-exclusive weapon, which is why currently only owners of Sony’s console can play with this new weapon. When this time exclusivity will be lifted is not yet known. The earliest date speculated is Fall 2016.
How to obtain Zen Meteor in Destiny
There is no predetermined path for the sniper, at the end of which Zen Meteor is guaranteed to drop as a reward. You also have to rely a bit on luck. As a PlayStation-exclusive weapon, it cannot be dropped by Xur.
You can obtain it in:
- Kingsfall Raid: The weapon can be obtained in the Oryx raid, which was upgraded with the April update.
- Nightfall Strike: The exotic sniper rifle can also be rewarded in the Nightfall.
What makes Zen Meteor special in Destiny?
Zen Meteor is a sniper with high range and impact. The rate of fire is also increased. Here are the specific stats (note the high aim assist):
The exotic weapon deals Solar damage and comes with interesting perks:
- Dynamite: Grants explosive rounds. Quick kills with each round in the magazine charge an additional round, causing higher damage for 5 seconds. You need to eliminate three targets with three shots to receive the Dynamite round.
- With a laser beam: The additional Dynamite round causes a massive explosion. You can check how this perk looks in practice in the video at the end of the article.
- Under Pressure: This weapon receives a range and handling bonus at low health.
Available selectable perks include:
- Injection Molding: Increased stability, faster handling, reduced range
- Custom Stock: Increases weapon stability
- Field Scout: Increases ammunition capacity
Additionally, you can adjust range, recoil, and impact with Soft Ballistics, Aggressive Ballistics, and Drift Control.
The weapon also has a hidden perk, as you can see in the video at the end of the article. This is explosive rounds, meaning the individual rounds cause a small explosion upon impact. Thus, enemies take damage even if they are within the explosion radius.
What can the weapon do in PvE and PvP?
Our friend Nexxoss Gaming presents this weapon in the video and gives his assessment of how it performs in PvE and PvP.
In PvE, you can efficiently eliminate enemies with this weapon. Weaker enemies, such as thralls, can be killed with one shot, and the explosive rounds deal additional damage. With the Dynamite round, you can take out several at once. However, the weapon also performs well against stronger enemies because it deals a lot of damage. Nevertheless, it is considered more of a “mass destruction weapon” against many smaller enemies.
To quickly eliminate enemies, Nexxoss recommends choosing Injection Molding among the selectable perks to regain sight quickly with increased stability and handling. This can also be useful in PvP.
According to the YouTuber, this weapon is a lot of fun in PvP, and it is entertaining to play with. Headshots come easily. With the Dynamite round, you have the chance of a one-shot kill; however, this option should be rather rare for many Guardians.
Thanks to the high rate of fire, you can try to take down opponents in PvP with two quick body shots. Additionally, the force of the explosive rounds can take out previously counted guardians. It is definitely fun to sweep through the Crucible with this weapon.
