In the MMO shooter Destiny , the developers at Bungie have released new information about the raid and the exotic vendor Xur.
In the Weekly Update, the developers’ weekly letter to the players, there were two major topics this time: the raid and Xur. Both are part of the last secrets of Taken King.
The raid “King’s Fall” opens on Friday, September 18th, at 7:00 PM our time.

Xur will be different – will not have a weapon every week anymore
The following information is released by Bungie regarding Xur:
- It seems that Xur will continue to “appear in the middle of the night” (from our perspective in the morning) and accepted “strange coins” as currency. So far, so Year 1.
- Xur is not supposed to be the major source for exotic items in Year 2 like he was in Year 1. They want to focus more on quests. This way players can develop a more direct connection to their items, and they aim to avoid repetitions in Xur’s inventory.
- Xur is now supposed to either bring an exotic engram or an exotic weapon.
- The new item “Three of Coins” that Xur sells increases the Guardian’s chances of an exotic engram drop from a boss enemy. This includes weapon engrams. The effect even intensifies over time. If the first item does not provide an exotic drop, the chance with the second “Three of Coins” is even higher.
- Xur has a “Legacy Engram” available every week. It contains an exotic item from Year 1 with Year 1 stats. Guardians should find the items they are still missing in their collection here.
Will Xur continue to sell exotic armor?
My MMO says: This raises clear doubts again and hardly twelve hours before Xur arrives. It is still not clear what his inventory will look like. It should actually be that he continues to sell 3 exotic armor pieces (one for each class). And then either an exotic weapon or an engram.
This looks at first glance like a heavy nerf. It does not come as a complete surprise. Out of the 13 exotic weapons that are known and confirmed so far, Xur could have sold only 3 anyway. The exotic armor pieces, however, were all marked as “Xur sells them”.
