It has been a month since “The Taken King” was released and everything is still in motion. Last week, the first major update came with 2.01. This shakes up the game’s economy. The patch, for instance, makes “Strange Coins,” which are so important for Xur, rare.
Xur is also set to sell a new item, “The Glass Needle.” Guardians will need this to reroll stats on exotic armors. No one knows how exactly it works yet, as Xur is only now making his appearance and selling the Glass Needle. It is still unclear whether this will further reduce the “Strange Coins” or if the Glass Needle will require a different currency.
It is now also officially clear: Not all exotic armor pieces for Year 2 are in the game, which were already found in the database. This explains some of the strange phenomena of the past weeks, especially regarding Bungie’s leniency with the “Three of Coins” and why the same items often drop from exotic engrams.

When does Xur come to Destiny and when does he leave again?
Xur arrives on Friday, October 16th, at 11:00 AM in the Tower or the Reef of Destiny. He leaves the online shooter again on Sunday, October 18th, also at 11:00 AM.

What does this mean with the brackets?
These are the values of the respective exotic armor piece; they can vary within certain parameters. The rule is: The higher, the better.
What is Xur selling this week in terms of armors, weapons, and engrams?
Xur is selling this week the exotic sniper rifle Beyond – NOT a Year 2 engram. It costs 23 strange coins.
For Hunters, there are the gauntlets “Don’t Touch Me.” (30/43 DIS, 29/42 STR). Like all exotic armor pieces, they cost 13 strange coins.
For Warlocks, the new helm “THE DEER.” (34/49 DIS, 31/46 STR).
For Titans, the gauntlets “No Plan B.” (30/43 INT, 31/44 STR).
Xur also sells a Year 1 legacy engram. Heavy weapons can drop here but these are Year 1 exotics with Year 1 stats.
