In the MMO shooter Destiny the evening of the new raid “King’s Fall” started yesterday and was completed 6 hours later. First chests have already been discovered as well. Unusual for a raid: The celebrities won.
Raid generated great interest on Twitch – Stream Team claims the kill
An uncomfortable truth: Normally, streamers with a large fan base are not known for their skill in the game, but for their entertainment value. But there are exceptions. Yesterday, a raid group consisting of perhaps the two biggest Destiny streamers on Twitch, Professor Broman and King Gothalion, was the world’s first group to complete the raid “King’s Fall”.
In previous instances, they had fallen considerably behind. Established raid groups that did not stream claimed the world-firsts.
After about 7 hours, the final boss
Streamer King Gothalion emerged as the favorite among the raid members with Twitch viewers. 50,000 were watching him at times. A level usually reached by League of Legends and not Destiny. By the way, among German-speaking streamers, Nexxoss Gaming, a friend of our site, managed to reach at least 1,000 viewers, which is also significantly above the normal level.
The raid “King’s Fall” opened sharply at 7:00 PM. At 1:52 AM, Bungie announced: The stream team has won. They narrowly beat the rival team VersusTheStream, who had just wiped at the final boss.

Gothalion, his associates, and the fans had observed the attempts of their competitors prior to their successful try and were able to draw the decisive hint from the failure of the other team to triumph themselves.
10 minutes later, VersusTheStream also achieved the kill on the boss.
So how was the raid?
[Mild Spoiler Alert]: The raid has been the “puzzliest” in the history of Destiny so far. Even the beginning required more coordination and collaboration than before. A jump puzzle tested nerves and wits before the first time coordination and overview were called for.
In the boss encounter, timing and the right tactic were crucial. For many ambitious teams, the Warpriest was probably the first dead end.

And the Warpriest marks the halftime. After that, there are still more bosses, a jump puzzle, and the final boss. But we don’t want to give away too much.
Raid mechanics in a shooter like Destiny usually consist of positioning and timing. It comes down to the right Guardian running at the right time in the right place, and if they shoot what they are supposed to shoot and don’t die too often, everything is fine.
Overall, the raid feels significantly more strategic than before. Players can probably be asked for more now.
Three chests already found in the new King’s Fall raid of Destiny
The popular game in Destiny “Where are the secret treasure chests?” is already in the first round.

The second chest can be found inside Golgoroth’s Labyrinth, where there are four doors with “Pressure Plates” that you need to stand on. One plate is hidden; you can access it by jumping through a small hole.

So far, it seems there is no new “exotic chest”, no exotics. It is questionable whether there will be any exotic chests in King’s Fall at all. The chests found so far contain neither weapons nor armor, but besides materials, the item that you need 20 times for Oryx to spit out something else, of which we do not yet know what it is.
Update: There are some reports that in these chests, relatively to very rarely, legendary items or exotics can be found.
