“The Dawning”, auf Englisch “The Dawning”, is the winter event of 2016 in Bungie’s MMO shooter. This brings new gameplay content, fresh items, and several innovations that change the gaming experience.
General Information about “The Dawning”
- Start: On December 13, 2016, it begins. An update will be available for download around 7 PM. Once this is installed, you can play the new content.
- End: January 3, 2017, expected at 10 AM.
- The biggest “innovations”: The return of the SRL and strike scoring.
- Records Book: You will receive a free records book where you can track your progress in the event and receive rewards. Here we present the rewards and challenges.

The SRL 2016
The Sparrow Racing returns on December 13. Amanda Holliday remains the contact person for it. In a Sparrow race, 6 Guardians race against each other on their Sparrows, where it is less about racing and more about combat.
The tracks from last year (on Venus and Mars) return. In addition, two new tracks on Mercury and Earth will be added. During “The Dawning”, there is exclusive SRL gear to win, which you can upgrade with ornaments.
After the event, you can continue to play the Sparrow Racing – it will be added to private games.
Strike Scoring and “New” Strikes
If you find Sparrow Racing silly, you also get something to shoot with “The Dawning”. The strikes will be upgraded. Three revised strikes will be introduced, The Nexus, Omnigul, and Taniks, which can already be seen in gameplay videos.
In addition, you will be rated with points when you play the three-player PvE activities. This strike scoring is intended to resemble the challenge of the Elders: You collect points, receive rewards, and rise in leaderboards.
A new faction will also be introduced for this purpose: The Vanguard Elite, led by Zavala.
New Exotics
Zavala and the strike scoring are crucial for the new exotics. Zavala has quests for you that relate to these exotic weapons. You can find info in the links:
- The Icebreaker returns in year 3.

- In Eververse, there are “Treasures of The Dawning”, which can be purchased for real money and include cosmetic items and new gear.
- Green engrams will automatically dismantle into weapon parts or armor materials when you pick them up from level 40.
