In the MMO shooter Destiny, there was excitement about a special package. It was thought that it would be exclusive again. Bungie has now clarified the questions.
For a few days now, screenshots of a weapon package, the SUROS package, have been circulating. It consists of an emblem, a shader, and three weapons from the “SUROS” factory: a scout rifle, a pulse rifle, and an automatic rifle.
This offer was not officially announced, but a “leak” on reddit put pressure on Bungie.
Fans thought upon seeing the picture (below): This is again an “exclusive deal” with a retailer. Again with GameStop. It was already the case with the exclusive shader “Blacksmith.” That would mean that only players who ordered from certain retailers would be able to enjoy this special package. The rest would have been left out.
That is not the case. There is no need for that. No reason to panic. The offer is not tied to any platform or specific retailer.
SUROS package will be obtainable by almost everyone in Destiny
Bungie has given the all-clear. All players who pre-order a digital or retail version of The Taken King will receive the package. And everyone who purchases a digital or retail version of the Collector’s Edition will also get it. This means that the only ones who will not receive it are players who buy a “non” Collector’s Edition without pre-ordering. The retail version refers to the one in the box.
However, even the Guardians who do not receive this package through ordering will be able to earn it in “Destiny”. However, this will only be available starting on 1.1.2016. The others will get “early access” to the SUROS package on 15.9.2015.
If you have already pre-ordered, you will also receive the package.
Who or what is a SUROS?
SUROS is one of the weapon manufacturers in the Destiny universe. So far, Guardians have known the name primarily because of the “SUROS Regime”, a famous automatic rifle. With the “Taken King” expansion, weapon manufacturers will be more prominently featured.
Bungie will give weapons from a manufacturer specific, unifying characteristics and a distinct design philosophy. SUROS is meant to stand for elegance. Players will be able to customize weapons of this brand to their personal preferences.
Just a few weeks ago, such an exclusive offer in Destiny caused some trouble. It seems that this time, you can put the laser pitchfork back down.
