On December 13th, the three-week winter event “The Dawning” will start, bringing not only new exotic weapons but also fresh armor pieces that you can acquire during this event.
SRL armor pieces are now infusible!
Compared to last year’s SRL, there are some new features in the Gear. In 2015, you could only infuse the helmet significantly. The other items were meant to look good during races and provide boosts, such as improved Sparrow control in the air. It was better not to take them into battle.
Now this is different: Every armor piece is infusible. If you want to take part in the raid in racer style, you can do so. However, in an interview, DeeJ joked that he advises against it. But it will be possible. Here are some pictures of the new SRL gear:
Lots of ornaments
Additionally, the new SRL armor pieces each have two ornament slots, which allow you to influence the color and geometry a bit. For example, on the Overtaker helmet, the two “wings” on the sides can be removed. Interestingly, The ornaments take your shader into account.
The class items don’t have an ornament slot, but they do have a chromatin slot. So if you still have chromatin in your vault, you can make these items glow. In Arekkz’s video, you can see the ornaments of the SRL armor:

Where do you get the ornaments? Good news: You don’t have to spend any money for them. You earn them by completing tasks in the new record book that you get for free when “The Dawning” starts. So you unlock them by playing.
By the way: You earn the SRL gear as random rewards after the Sparrow races. These can only be obtained during this three-week event, as DeeJ stated. After the event, the Sparrow races will be added to private matches, but you can no longer earn SRL gear.
