In the MMO shooter Destiny , players can now obtain a lot of Light particles when they exchange their materials with the Speaker.
How do you obtain the 9 new exotic armor pieces like Celestial Nighthawk, which were newly added to Destiny with House of Wolves?
There are several ways: You can wait for Xur to sell them at some point – just like now the Handcuffs of Darkness. You can try to get them from a chest in the Prison of Elders, seize them in the Nightfall, or hope for another very low probability.
However, the main source and the best chance for most Guardians should be with Xur. But not with the items he sells directly.
This is how you can obtain a lot of Light particles through the Speaker
It is now the new trend with Xur: He sells, when he arrives on Fridays, engrams, from which the new exotic armor pieces can emerge. However, you need a lot of Light particles to purchase as many engrams as possible. He wants 23 Light particles per chance in the engram lottery. The question is: Where can you get a lot of Light particles (Motes of Light) from?
It is quite simple. The Speaker has a new “exchange table”, where he now exchanges Glimmer shards and Ascendant shards for Light particles.
The new exchange function of the Speaker in Destiny
2 shards yield 1 Light particle (it doesn’t matter whether Ascendant or Glimmer shard)
Glimmer energy and Ascendant energy can also be exchanged for Light particles by first converting them into shards.
1 energy and 50 Glimmer yield 1 shard. (it doesn’t matter whether Ascendant or Glimmer energy)
These materials were the four “enhancement items” from the two old raids. Energy was used to upgrade weapons, with shards the armors.
One thing to note: You must really go to the Speaker in Destiny with the items in your inventory; only then is this opportunity available.
“What do I do with old shards and energies?” and “Where do I get new Exotics from?” have the same answer
So if players are dealing with a lot of Ascendant or Glimmer materials and are asking: “What should I do with them?” – This is the answer: Exchange them through the Speaker for exotic armor pieces with Xur. This is probably the better alternative than simply selling them to the Speaker for 250 Glimmer each – though that also works.
The downside is: Xur is not always there and does not always sell the appropriate engram, and the desired item does not always come out of the engram. But these “random principles” should be something Destiny players are slowly getting used to.
