In the MMO shooter Destiny the community is hot on secrets. They’re hunting the Sleeper Simulant. This takes bizarre forms.
“Bravo Bungie, you’ve turned us into a band of conspiracy theorists!”, someone recently wrote on reddit and was absolutely right.
For several days now, the Destiny community has been raging and can’t find peace. Grimoire cards are being pored over, the most absurd clues are being pursued, all information is being scraped together, heads are being heatedly talked off, asking: Where the hell can we search anymore? And what are we even searching for?
Every morning the question: What is the Daily? Is there a clue hidden there? What’s different today?
Some are counting colors like crazy, mumbling to themselves as if they were wandering through a giant cube: Vex – blue – yellow – yellow – green – the golden age! Players are staggering with their guardians through catacombs, examining the walls pixel by pixel for indentations, staring at mysterious inscriptions on their weapons.
The worst nightmare: You stand in front of the big, decisive clue and simply don’t recognize it. Catastrophe! They had one chance to decipher cryptic clues like Indiana Jones or Sherlock Holmes… and blew it.
What’s going on? What crazy virus has infected the community?
That’s why everyone is totally crazy about Destiny right now
There are three factors causing half the community in Destiny to discuss like crazy and be in a frenzy:
- Destiny has locked out the data miners – While every quest step was previously known, now all leaks are closed – players only know what they are supposed to know, no more
- The loot is known – Sleeper Simulant, a heavy fusion rifle with jumping laser beams has been extensively presented, just not revealed how to obtain the exotic weapon in the game – mean! Now everyone wants to be the first to solve the final puzzle steps, to win that thing.
- The Black Spindle and Destiny’s special rhythm – since last week, the exotic sniper rifle Black Spindle, which no one had heard of, has appeared in an everyday location, players now believe that around every corner and each new day the next big secret could be discovered. Because in Destiny everything follows a specific rhythm, a “known area” on a certain day, when it becomes the target of a daily heroic mission, could reveal new things.
Bungie is fueling this : You haven’t discovered everything yet. There’s still plenty hidden. Look around and connect, they advise. If the community is good for one thing, it’s triggering a gold rush.
No Time to explain – exotic pulse rifle – Status: Not found yet
Two weapons are driving players crazy right now. It’s “No Time to explain”, an exotic pulse rifle that resembles the Rifle of the Stranger. They believe the new exotic pulse rifle could somehow be related to the Vex, hidden similarly to the Black Spindle.
It could also be that the weapon will only become active at a later point. Some believe the new Rasputin strike could provide clues. Or that the current “Rifle of the Stranger” could somehow be upgraded.
So far, all attempts have ended in a dead end. It’s quite possible that “No Time to explain” will only come later.
Sleeper Simulant – exotic fusion rifle, Status: Not found yet
Regarding the current main prize and the top goal for the community’s discovery drive, Sleeper Simulant, Bungie has provided a rough outline of how to obtain the weapon. Players are supposed to bring the gunsmith relics from the past until a clue is triggered.
Furthermore, they know the weapon from videos and know how it will function, look, and sound.
What is DVALIN-RAS93-Fr001?
It is believed that 4 of these relics are already in the game and found. They are called DVALIN-RAS93-FR001, FR002, FR003, and FR004. It seems these are random drops in Destiny. They can be submitted to the gunsmith Banshee-44.
There is a strong belief that these relics are related to the Sleeper Simulant, triggering some hidden quest steps without any direct effects.
Now there are 2 different approaches. Some believe you must have reached a certain rank with the gunsmith for the quest to progress. Perhaps you need rank 5 or something similar before anything happens. And that rank is currently mathematically still unreachable, so the quest is stuck.
The fifth relic for the Sleeper Simulant?
Others think a “fifth relic” must now be found in a special environment. And this viewpoint is currently driving everyone crazy. They are analyzing the old fusion rifle “Infinity” for clues; there is a mysterious symbol hidden there, which is also found in images of the Sleeper Simulant and on other relics associated with the Golden Age.
They’re listening to computer noises in the SABER strike or dealing with the Warmind Rasputin.
After all, they believe, it represents the “RAS” in the names of the relics. DVALIN, on the other hand, could originate from Norse mythology. There, Dvalin is a dwarf smith who crafted artifacts for the gods.
Whether the divine artifacts back then drove everyone as crazy as the not-found exotic weapons are driving the Destiny community today is unknown. Watched Thor on TV just yesterday. No clues.
