At Destiny, you can find information about the ornaments. Soon, it should be possible to buy them individually – at any time.
With “Rise of Iron”, the ornaments were introduced, an evolution of the chromatic system, which allows you to influence the appearance of your weapons and armor pieces. They are purely cosmetic items, of which Bungie is gradually introducing more into the game.
The ornaments have often been at the center of heated discussions: The fastest way to obtain them is, by far, to open your wallet. At Tess Everis, you can purchase Radiant Treasures, which contain random ornaments. So, if you want a specific ornament, you not only have to spend money but also rely on luck.
With the upcoming “The Dawning” event, this is supposed to change. The randomness will be taken out of the equation.
A kiosk for the ornaments
In an interview with IGN, executive producer Scott Taylor talks about upcoming innovations in the Eververse and with the ornaments. Tess Everis will bring “a lot of new stuff”. It is already known that she will offer “Treasures of the Dawning”, which contain cosmetic items, new ornaments, and this armor:
Furthermore, Taylor shares that there will be a new kiosk: dedicated to ornaments only. Bungie has heard the community’s requests for a way to purchase just the ornament they really want. Therefore, with “The Dawning”, an ornaments kiosk will be set up right next to the store, where you can select and buy the desired ornaments directly.
What will happen to Xur’s ornaments?
For 25 Silver Dust each, you can purchase random ornaments from Xur on the weekends. A statement from a PlanetDestiny podcaster circulating on reddit claims to have received the following information directly from Activision:
Xur will no longer sell ornaments with “The Dawning”. In the new kiosk, all ornaments will henceforth be available for 25 Silver Dust. The price is expected to remain unchanged – regardless of whether you already own the ornament or not.
