Stasis and its much too strong Shards
Before you close MeinMMO and wrap yourself in Stasis, you should admit that the time when Stasis was first released was quite amusing. Stasis was the first Darkness class released with “Beyond Light”.
Guardians could conjure ice crystals out of thin air to freeze enemies and shatter them. The focus is no longer as powerful, but at release, Destiny 2 was blazing. In PvE, Guardians froze and shattered everything and everyone, but the Crucible was considered unplayable at that time – unless you were a sneaky Hunter.
Ice wall grenade, then shatter the crystals in mid-jump. That was the tactic at the time, and even if you had a safe distance, you were still killed or so badly injured that you were annihilated after just one shot.
Even though it’s debatable, the introduction of the first Darkness super was a great event, and you could say that almost every Guardian had fun with it.
The Light and Darkness Saga
Not far in the past, the first saga of Destiny was just recently concluded, but its roots were already in Destiny 1 – The Light and Darkness saga that is now concluded after 10 years. It is over, the witness is dead, and now there are other threats in the loot shooter.
Although this story is now history, it accompanied many fans for years until its end. Whether you had taken a break and returned later or followed the story through lore YouTubers, the story and its development in the Destiny cosmos had brought both joy and tears.
It allowed Guardians to feel emotional investment over so many years and introduced some of the greatest enemies and characters one could meet in such a game. Even if things don’t look good for Destiny at the moment, one can be glad to have been part of the journey.
Honorable Mention
10 years is a lot, and we couldn’t showcase all the cool events in detail. However, we would still like to briefly mention some things. The following should be known to every Guardian:
- The Loot Cave and the hours-long farming for rare engrams in Destiny 1
- The precursors to the exotic missions in the form of loot trains from Destiny 1
- The first secret mission with the Black Spindle from Destiny 1
- Strike loot like Taniks’s cloak or Malok’s grip drove Guardians to farm Strikes
- The Prison of Elders with its fun rounds
- An acceptable main story from Destiny 2 vanilla with Ghaul
- The Menagerie, a dark version of the Leviathan
- and much more
