The Hunt for the Gjallarhorn
The Gjallarhorn is probably the most famous exotic weapon from the loot shooter. The rocket launcher not only represents power but is also a status symbol for those who defeat gods. While in Destiny 2 everyone can obtain the rocket launcher, it was purely a matter of luck in Destiny 1.
You either bought it from Xur back then or got lucky with the Cryptarch. Either way, finding this weapon felt like winning the lottery at that time, and whoever owned the Gjallarhorn was allowed to roam with other players in raids and take down Crota.
Without this item, most players were turned away and could not join. An unfair time, but back then the loot shooter was still in its self-discovery phase, and only those who loved the game from the start remained loyal to Destiny.
The First Raid
On September 16, 2014, a dark power spread across Venus. The Vex and their leader “Atheon” attempted to change time with the Glass Chamber. Bungie’s first 6-player activity required communication and coordination, and it finally saw the light of day.
Alongside cool armor fitting for the Vex, there were also powerful weapons, including the first ever raid exotic: The Vex Mythoclast. The fusion rifle with its unique firing mode terrorized the Crucible at that time and turned normal enemies into dust with single shots.
The raid was not hard, but if there’s one thing that would burn into your memory, it would be those pesky Gorgons that could catch you out of nowhere.
