In Destiny, we provide you with a guide on what to consider in the heroic mode of “Wrath of the Machine”.
That was quick! The heroic Aksis was defeated after just 45 minutes and the heroic mode of “Wrath of the Machine” was completed. But what is different compared to the “normal” difficulty?
To learn the exact mechanics of this raid, you should check out our “Wrath of the Machine” guide. Below, we will only list the differences of the heroic mode – also known as hard mode.
This is how you defeat Vosiks in heroic
In general, the heroic mode is not too difficult if you are already familiar with the mechanics. The enemies are simply stronger, and you cannot revive your teammates. The recommended light level is 380.
In the first phase of Vosik, there are no major innovations. The mechanics remain the same. The boss himself has more armor, so you will take longer to make him disappear.
Also the second phase with Vosik remains largely the same: You throw bombs at him to destroy his shield, you shoot down monitors, and you hide in the rooms. But:
- In the bomb phase, six bombs now drop. Each Guardian must pick one up and throw it at Vosik. Two bombs fall on the left side, the right side, and in the middle from the ceiling.
- In the monitor phase, you now have to deal with the large monitors:

These have more health than the small screens, so you should shoot at them better as a team.
- When you run into the rooms, the entrances are nearly completely closed. You must therefore run towards them and slide underneath or crawl through while crouching.
By the way: There is now a “red” chest as a reward for the heroic mode loot. The “normal” chest only gives items up to light level 385.
The Siege Machine in heroic mode
In the siege machine, you will find more and stronger adds. Moreover, the siege machine is a bit faster. Otherwise, everything initially happens as usual.
The biggest difference from the normal mode is that during Meksis, a runner, a “Perfected Walker,” also appears. Defeat him or shoot him in a foot until he goes down, and quickly run past him.
Aksis – Phase 1 in Heroic Mode
The mechanic remains; the only difference (besides stronger adds) is that there are now three turrets (middle, left, and right) that want to annoy you. However, you cannot destroy the turrets with firepower; you can only deactivate them for a while. After about 20 seconds, they will become active again. Therefore, you can never completely eliminate this threat during the fight. So don’t forget about them. They deal a lot of damage, but can be quickly deactivated.
Aksis – Phase 2 in Heroic Mode
Aksis seems to be going a bit more aggressively than before, and you need to watch out for the stronger adds. The turrets are no longer there. Basically, you only need to pay attention to one change: 9 Servitors spawn instead of 3, which drop bombs. These come one after another – as soon as one is destroyed, the next one comes immediately. The tempo is thus significantly increased. Otherwise, it’s the familiar mechanics.
At the very end, when Aksis wants to wipe you out with his last attempt, he doesn’t initially stand still, but rather disappears from time to time. However, as soon as he raises his hand, everything is the same as before.
