Destiny forecast: Are they announcing the “old, new raids” tonight?

Tonight, a major announcement is coming up for Destiny . It probably won’t surprise anyone.

Bungie is keeping its cards close to its chest, not revealing what it intends to present to us tonight around 6 PM our time. Like a chubby kid who doesn’t want to share the strawberry cake, the developers are protecting their secrets.

Fans have been annoyed by announcements of an announcement for months now.

Last week, they promised a “roadmap” for Thursday, but yesterday they took it a step further, postponing the announcement by another 20 hours. Fans seem more inclined to throw tomatoes and eggs at the monitor than to spend money like in earlier, better times.

It’s no longer much of a secret what Bungie is planning for the spring update. Since last fall, most people have assumed that the “old raids” involving Atheon and Crota will be recycled again. This was suggested by Bungie designer Chris Barett before “Rise of Iron”.

In an interview with Polygon, he revealed in September 2016 that a revamp of the old raids has been on the “Top 10” player wish list for years. For Rise of Iron, something new was planned. But they knew that fans wanted to return to the old raids. They would absolutely consider it.

Words no Destiny fan wants to hear: The Live Team has prepared something

Even the latest announcement is going in this direction. Community Manager DeeJ explicitly mentioned yesterday the “Live Team” that is preparing the new content.

The Live Team was also behind other “non-DLC” content updates like “The Prison of Elders” or “The Dawning.” These updates are recognized by the fact that “assets” already present in the game were reused. Instead of exciting boss encounters with new mechanics expected from DLCs, there were only “bullet sponges” – enemies with a lot of health points. Guardians searched in vain for cool, new mechanics.

Graphic designers and other game designers necessary for “new content” are probably all already working on Destiny 2. A well-known affliction that Destiny has been suffering from since December 2015.

Our look into the future: What Bungie is announcing for Destiny tonight

So everything points to the fact that this will be explained tonight:

• A content update is coming in April
• one or both of the old raids “The Vault of Glass” and “Crota’s End” are the focus of the update
• there will be “new loot” – perhaps old favorites like the Fatebringer, the Vex Mythoclast or this other thing that only the Elders remember
• the light level will increase by a few points
• the balance changes presented last week will also be implemented
• and maybe a new feature will fit into the patch, but that would already be a mild surprise
• very important are also at least two Twitch streams at the end of March, in which the new content will be presented – nothing will be announced here without prior notice
• of course there will also be fresh emotes and other gimmicks for Eververse, the silver store

We will know tonight at 6 PM what Bungie is announcing. But it would be a surprise if it were something significantly different than the scenario presented here.
