In the MMO shooter Destiny the release date for the DLC “House of Wolves” has been announced. Apparently, a video is also expected to be released in the next few minutes.
As several US sources report, Activision has announced the release date of the next DLC “House of Wolves“. It is set for May 19.
This is the date that has been circulating for several months. It was brought into the game by Japanese leaker Megaman in February. Earlier this year, there were leaks from October suggesting that “House of Wolves” would be released in March. But that was resolved with the official announcement that House of Wolves would not be released until the second quarter of 2015.
A video is expected in the next few minutes. Currently, US sources only have the date as information. They expect a video by 7:00 PM our time or even earlier. We are curious to see how this will develop.
By the way, this is supposed to be the video. It is currently set to “private” and should be visible at 7:00 PM! Those wondering why this is all so strange, allegedly the press release was sent out to US sites too early due to an error.
Update 7:00 PM: This is the trailer now. It tells the prologue, the backstory, to the next DLC House of Wolves. The prologue is told from the queen’s perspective. She wants to take revenge on the traitors she let into her house. And she is prepared to place the riches of her realm as a bounty.
Little is officially known about House of Wolves so far…
Currently, there is little confirmed information about the gameplay contents of House of Wolves, but there are many leaks and speculations. An statement by raid designer Luke Smith is considered certain. He stated that they want to avoid repeating two mistakes made with “The Darkness Awaits”. The upgrading of exotic items should not be “reset” this time. Additionally, vendors would not sell items stronger than those players looted in the previous raid.
… but a lot is speculated
Even though the official statements are sparse at the moment, there are plenty of speculations and leaks, but it is not certain that this is true and similarly makes it into the game:
- it is suspected that a second social space, a second tower will be introduced
- there are already pictures of the supposed raid gear and the exotic weapons and armors
- and also the vendor weapons and armors can already be admired
Update 7:00 PM: The trailer is now here and tells the backstory to House of Wolves. Those who were hoping for more information will have to be patient. While a homepage for the expansion has been published, there are still no facts there; these are expected to appear in small portions in the coming weeks. On Wednesday, April 22, further information is to be revealed.
So far, we only know:
- there will be new story missions
- three new competitive multiplayer maps
- a cooperative strike
- a new elimination mode in the crucible (could be Trials of Osiris but does not have to be)
- and a new arena activity called The Prison of Elders (here it is suspected to be a kind of horde mode, but it is not known whether it comes instead of or in addition to a raid)
So there’s still a lot unclear.
