In the MMO shooter Destiny , Lord Saladin is back with the Iron Banner in March. We present the rewards.
Since Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM, the March Iron Banner in Destiny has been running. The mode played is Control. The Iron Banner will end on Tuesday, April 5th, at 11 AM.
The trick to gaining as much reputation as possible usually involves the bounties, and one should wear the appropriate reputation items: An Iron Banner emblem, a shader, and the class item. By the end of the week, the reputation bonus increases significantly. If you want to “level up” multiple characters, you should ensure that one Guardian is prioritized a bit. As long as one Guardian has a higher reputation rank than the others, the “smaller” ones will receive a big reputation bonus.
It is important to pick up the “packages” from Saladin at rank 3 and rank 5. The rank 5 package can contain really good stuff: A ghost shell with 310 and then an Iron Banner item, a weapon or armor piece, with 310 and above.
However, chance plays a big role here, and with the “light increase to 335 coming soon” this balances out.
What rewards are there in the Iron Banner in March?
Directly from Lord Saladin as a purchasable item with fixed attributes, there are:
- Starting from rank 3, a chest armor
- Starting from rank 4, the hand cannon, gloves, and PlayStation-exclusive gloves
- Starting from rank 5, the machine gun
After battles in the Iron Banner, items can drop randomly. With “rank” referring to the rank of your highest-ranked Guardian:
- From rank 2: The chest armor
- From rank 3: The hand cannon, gloves, and PlayStation-exclusive gloves
- From rank 4: The machine gun

Today we are taking a closer look at the two purchasable weapons with fixed stats.
The hand cannon Finnala’s Färnis
Finnala’s Färnis is a strong hand cannon according to its stats. If Bungie adjusts the weapon balance in the next patch, it could be one of the strongest legendary hand cannons out there.
The perks are rather mediocre. It comes with “Third Eye” and “Unrelenting Pursuer.” You can also take Hand Loader or Smallbore with it.
A decent weapon, but “randomly” dropped with Outlaw, Triple Tap, or Roulette is certainly a more exciting choice.
The machine gun Bretomart’s Defense
The MG Bretomart’s Defense is really good like almost every machine gun. It’s really rare for a weapon type to say: You can’t use that at all.
The purchasable version comes with solar damage, field choke, spray and play, crowd control, and reinforced barrel.
A very decent version of the weapon. But, let’s be honest, by now almost every Guardian should have found “their heavy weapon” for the current content level.
Is it all worth it?
Actually not. It’s like so often in Destiny: The later it gets in a patch cycle, the “less worth” such activities really become. Especially since new content will arrive on April 12th. The rewards will be presented tonight – we will be there with a live ticker starting at 8:00 PM.
These are solid items available here, but they can’t compete with the monsters such as what Banshee-44 had on offer this morning. Still, one should not be discouraged. If you enjoy the Iron Banner, you can definitely dive into the fray. Have fun with it!
