At Destiny we summarize all the information you need to know about account import on August 16. This affects all platforms: PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
In one week it will happen: Starting August 16, 2016, the account import can be performed in Destiny. Future Destiny updates and content will only be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from then on.
The last-gen consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360, will be considered “old consoles” from this date on, which will only receive minor updates in case of major issues. Thus, “The Rise of Iron” will also run exclusively on the current-gen consoles.
For this reason, all Destiny accounts need to perform a one-time account import when they first log in to PS4 or Xbox One after this date.
Everyone must perform an account import on PS4 and Xbox One
Through the account import, all your data, including character data, progress, gear, and inventory, purchased Silver and Eververse licenses will be transferred from the old console to the current console – within the same console family.
Any progress made on the old console after this import will not be transferable. After the import, progress will proceed on parallel paths. The following image illustrates this:
Note: All existing accounts must perform the one-time account import. Even if you have only played on PS4 or Xbox One until now, you must accept the import dialog when you log in for the first time after August 16. After performing the import, you can continue playing as usual.
Important: The transfer of data is only possible for consoles within the same console family. You can only transfer data from PS3 to PS4 and from Xbox 360 to Xbox One.
Performing the import in Destiny
As soon as the import can be performed starting August 16, you will see an “Account Import” dialog when you log in for the first time on PS4 or Xbox One.
- You accept the dialog and the account import begins.
- You must accept the dialog, otherwise you cannot play Destiny on PS4 or Xbox One.
Attention: The import cannot be repeated. It is a one-time process. If you are not ready for the import yet, you can also close the dialog. You will then return to the title screen.
More information about the account import:
- Currently, there is no deadline for how long you can postpone the account import. However, it does not have to be done directly on August 16.
- It is not required to purchase “The Taken King” or “The Rise of Iron” for the account import. More information can be found on the official Bungie page.
Here you can find out which content PS3 and “Xbox 360” guardians can still play from August 16 – and which they cannot.
