In the MMO Destiny, there are new legendary weapons for Crucible tokens and Vanguard tokens that are stronger than the previous raid items and even the exotic weapons.
Yesterday, the DLC “Darkness Lurks” went live in Destiny. With it came new legendary weapons to Destiny. And they look impressive. They already reach maximum damage values of 331 and the best part is: Randomness plays hardly any role.
The weapons must, of course – like everything in Destiny – be upgraded to unlock their full potential.
For their upgrades, guardians need the old Ascendant materials, which were also required for the legendary items, as well as the “normal” materials and Glimmer. The weapons also want a bunch of EXP.
Where do I get Crucible tokens and Vanguard tokens?
You will receive both tokens when you rank up with one of the factions from rank 2 to rank 3 and with each further rank beyond rank 3. That is then in the mail packages.
If you rank up with one of the three other factions (Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, or New Monarchy), you will receive a Crucible token.
The Crucible Tokens and Vanguard Tokens are obtained in exactly the same way as before. Crucible for PvP matches, Vanguard Tokens for PvE activities like Strikes and Patrol missions.
Which weapons are particularly recommended?
The Primary Weapon Problem
The tricky part is that players should especially pay attention to “Elemental” damage. It is also important to obtain primary weapons right now, as the legendary raid weapons (with elemental damage) only come in the hard mode of the Crota’s End raid, which will be available in January.
The unfortunate part: There are no primary weapons on sale from the vendors with elemental damage, only elemental weapons among special and heavy weapons. Currently, “Murmur” gives every player a fusion rifle through the quest that can switch between Arc and Solar damage.
Arc and Solar are also the preferred damage types for the “Crota’s End” raid. While this does not play a significant role for PvP players in the Crucible of Destiny.
Shotguns and Sniper Rifles
A long, longing glance should perhaps be cast by guardians upon the machine gun MG18A Harm’s Way. It deals Void damage. In the past, it has been shown that sniper rifles perform exceedingly well in the weekly Nightfall strike.
Here, the Y-09 Longbow Synthesis or the LDR 5001 could pay off. For PvP enthusiasts, the shotguns from the three factions can pack a punch, especially with “The Cauldron,” which introduces a close new map.
Wait for Xur? Or upgrade the armors first?
Cautious guardians may also choose to wait until Friday and see what Xur has in offer, to possibly buy an exotic primary weapon early there or upgrade to the new version.
Or they take care of the new vendor armor that is also available to achieve a higher Light level. A strong 331 weapon will certainly help with that.

The new legendary weapons from the vendors in the Tower start with a damage value of 272 and rise to a value of 331.

The Crucible Quartermaster has a rich selection of firepower. These cost 150 Crucible Tokens and require 1 Crucible Award:

- For the People – Auto Rifle, kinetic damage
- 123 SYZYGY – Pulse Rifle, kinetic damage
- Three Little Words – Pulse Rifle, kinetic damage
- The Saterienne Dagger – Scout Rifle, kinetic damage
- B-Line Dreams – Scout Rifle, kinetic damage
- TFWBKY 1969 – Hand Cannon, kinetic damage
- The Trolley Problem – Fusion Rifle, Arc damage
- Two to the Morgue – Shotgun, Void damage

In addition, the three factions have further weapons available to you with upgraded stats of 272/331.
