The MMO shooter Destiny runs on PS4 and Xbox One at a frame rate of 30 FPS. The following videos show what Destiny would look like at 60 frames per second.
Already in the summer of 2014, it became known that Destiny would not run at 60 FPS on the next-gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One, but only at 30 FPS.
At that time, Senior Environmental Artist Jason Sussman confirmed that Destiny would be released in 1080p resolution and at 30 frames per second. This was a significant disappointment for players, as they wanted to fully enjoy the advantages of a next-gen console. Sussman explained:
I could get very technical now, but I would bore you to death. A lot has to do with performance.
The “problem” was that Destiny was released for PS4, Xbox One, but also for PS3 and Xbox360, which is why a similar gaming experience had to be ensured across all four consoles. To achieve this cross-platform, compromises had to be made for the refresh rate.
This is what Destiny would look like at 30 FPS
Some guardians, however, do not want to accept this compromise and have increased the FPS themselves using appropriate tools. The following video shows gameplay footage of Destiny at 60 FPS:
The user reports that he recorded the video with “Xbox One Game DVR” and doubled the framerate using “Motion Interpolation”. He recommends watching the video in HD. The results are impressive.
The following video is also supposed to show Destiny at 60 FPS. However, the HUD swings alarmingly:
In the comments and forums of the worldwide internet, guardians demand 60 FPS for “Destiny 2”. Everything with less than that belongs to the past. So far, there is no information on whether Bungie will adjust the framerate. Since the MMO shooter Destiny is expected to exist for several more years, this will be an inevitable step for the game to survive in the future.
At this point, thanks to our reader SpaceEse, who drew our attention to a 60 FPS video of Destiny in the comments.
