Bungie announces what “at least Fall 2018” means for the PS4-exclusive content in Destiny 2. When will this content arrive on Xbox One and PC?
Due to a marketing deal between Sony and Activision, Guardians on PlayStation can look forward to additional content. This is not just one or two cosmetic items, but substantial gameplay content.
Players on Xbox One and PC are therefore already wondering when it will be their turn to receive all this content. So far, only a time exclusivity of “at least until Fall 2018” has been stated.
However, the past has shown that the word “at least” is significant. The PlayStation exclusives from Fall 2015 are still not available on Xbox. And Fall 2016 is long gone.
Luke Smith, the Game Director at Bungie, now provides a clear answer to the question of how long the time exclusivity for Destiny 2 lasts: The PlayStation-exclusive content will be released on Xbox One and PC in 2018.
Thus, one can probably strike the “at least” from “at least Fall 2018”.
The PlayStation-exclusive content will also come to PC a year later
So far, it was unclear what the deal between Sony and Activision looked like specifically. Are the contents available for at least a year only on the PS4? Or are they available on PS4 and PC – and only Xbox is excluded? Now it is clear: PC players will also have to wait.
A recent report from an Italian website caused confusion, which stated that the PS4-exclusive content would never come to other platforms. Luke Smith reportedly told them so.
However, there was probably just a translation error here. In any case, Smith now clarifies: In 2018, the PS4 exclusives will go live across all platforms.
We have already presented the PS4-exclusive content in detail:
- An exclusive Strike
- Exclusive armor pieces for each class
- A ship
- A PvP map
- An exotic sniper rifle that can switch elemental damage at will.
Note: Due to E3, “This Week at Bungie” will not take place this week.
