We show you how to start the hunt for the Exo Leviathan’s Breath on October 22 in Destiny 2, how to complete the exotic quest “Make bows, not war” and what the heavy exotic bow can do.
Bungie released a roadmap at the start of Shadowkeep, showing us the planned content for the current season. The map states that next week the first Iron Banner of the season starts. If we look further into the future, we see that an exotic quest will go live on October 22.
At the end of the quest line “Make bows, not war,” the exotic bow Leviathan’s Breath awaits the Guardians. To wield the weapon, players must complete numerous tasks and find the secret workshop of the gunsmith Banshee-44.
Details about the quest have become known through data mining. The quest is offered by the gunsmith Banshee in the Tower. The first step, the back entrance, leads you into the hangar.
Here are the quest steps:
- Back Entrance: Find the hidden entrance to Banshee’s workshop. How to find the entrance easily and quickly is explained here: Back Entrance – How to find your way to Banshee’s workshop
- Sir, the keys please: In the workshop, you will find the exotic bow in a display case. Unfortunately, the box is locked. Return to Banshee to complain. (Of course politely.)
- Lockpicking for beginners: Collect data for a new key code by completing Gambit matches or Vanguard strikes. Gambit Prime matches and Nightfall strikes yield the best results.
- Lockpicking for advanced: Now you need to land precise death blows against Vex or Cabal with a bow.
- War Economy: Then you must complete a special version of the “Warlord” strike in the EDZ. The quest versions of the strikes typically have no player matchmaking and require a high power level.
- Applied Cryptosecurity: Obtain the biometric data from Banshee-44 in the Tower.
- Get the bow out: Return to Banshee’s workshop to retrieve the bow from the armory.

The reward for your efforts
This is what the bow Leviathan’s Breath can do: The exotic deals Void damage and is the first bow to be carried in the power weapon slot.
In terms of stability and handling, the bow does not impress. However, it makes up for this with its high impact and precision.
The exotic abilities of Leviathan’s Breath are:
- Large Game Hunter: Fires an extra heavy bolt that knocks unprotected fighters off balance. Strong against Unstoppable Champions.
- Leviathan’s Sigh: When fully drawn, the bolt creates a large disruption explosion that pushes enemies back.
Leviathan’s Breath was specifically designed for the dangers and tasks of the current season of the Undying, as it inherently has the ability to interrupt opponents.
The ability is particularly strong against the new champion enemies. These lurk in the harder activities such as the Trial by Fire or the Nightmare Hunts waiting for the Guardians. To fight these foes effectively, you will need the suitable mods from the seasonal artifact.
Similar, seasonally important properties are also found in the new exotic hand cannon Eriana’s Vow. It breaks through shields and barriers, even from the champions of darkness.
Are you as excited as a bowstring about the new Exo Leviathan’s Breath, or does a bow in the power slot leave you cold?
