Destiny 2 has today, on October 15th, received update 2.6.0.4 for all platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC). We summarize everything important regarding the maintenance work, the server downtime, and the patch notes for you.
Today, some new content from Shadowkeep and Season 8 will go live in Destiny 2. However, before you can dive into battle, there will also be a new update. The patch will be accompanied by maintenance work.
Update:
- 6:45 PM – The servers are offline as previously announced.
- 7:06 PM – Update 2.6.0.4 is now available for download. On PS4, it has version number 1.42 and is 139.5 MB in size.
- After installing the update, you may end up in the queue.
Here are the important times today: According to the official tweet from Bungie Help, the maintenance will proceed as follows:
- 6:00 PM maintenance begins
- 6:45 PM the Destiny 2 servers are expected to go offline, players will be removed from all activities
- At 7:00 PM, just in time for the reset, the servers are expected to come back online and update 2.6.0.4 will become available
What is up with the discrepancies? On the official Bungie page for updates and server status, not only different times are listed, but also a different sequence for today’s update. It states:
- The maintenance starts at 7:00 PM
- No downtime is expected
- Update 2.6.0.4 is scheduled to roll out from 7:00 PM
- Maintenance is expected to end at 8:00 PM
- Players who have not installed the update by then will be taken back to the title menu
- Queues may occur
So what is correct now (Update)? Based on the current situation, it is clear: The information from today’s Twitter announcement is correct. You can rely on that. The incorrect information on the official status page, however, has still not been updated.

What else is new today? Some new content will go live today. Here’s what Guardians can expect after the weekly reset on October 15th:
- The first Iron Banner of Year 3 starts. This one-week PvP event is available to all Guardians
- The new activity Nightmare Hunt will receive an additional new difficulty level. The Nightmare Hunts are exclusive to Shadowkeep owners
