Today’s Destiny update will be accompanied by maintenance work. During this time, there will be a several-hour server downtime. If everything goes according to plan, the servers will remain offline for two hours.
This is how Bungie wants to ensure that as many people as possible can download and install the update before the new season and the preparation for the new raid “Crown of Sorrow” begins.
This is the official schedule for maintenance on June 4th:
16:00:
- Planned start of maintenance
17:00:
- All guardians will be removed from the game
- Destiny 2 and the companion app will go offline
- Update 2.5.0.1 will be released for all platforms and in all regions
19:00:
- The Destiny 2 servers will come back online
- Players who have already downloaded and installed Update 2.5.0.1 can log back in
- The Season of Opulence begins
- The features of the companion app should now be fully available again
20:00:
- Expected end of maintenance
What console players on PS4 and Xbox One should note: If the update for Destiny 2 is taking unusually long for you today, you can manually conduct the update. You can find out how to do this in these help articles from Bungie:
If you still don’t see the update, perform a reset (No, not to factory settings!) of your console.
How to reset consoles: Disconnect your PS4 from power for about a minute. Then plug it back in and start it.
For the Xbox One, you only need to hold the power button a bit longer. Then the console should shut down and restart.
Bungie recommends the following for both consoles:
- Completely shut down the console
- Make sure it is not in power-saving mode
- Disconnect the console completely from the power supply
- Wait 5 minutes
- Reconnect the console to the power supply
This way, the update should be automatically downloaded after the console is powered on if it is already available. If it is still not the case, search again for the update and try the manual installation.
