In Destiny 2, the Trials of the Nine start today, on December 8th. Which map is being played? What game mode is up next?
Today, on this Friday, the first Trials of the Nine will begin after the release of Curse of Osiris and Season 2. From now on, there are Trials ornaments for your gear. You earn these by completing certain challenges. You will find out what these are as soon as the PvP event is live.
In the last few days, Guardians have been wondering whether this week’s Trials of the Nine will even take place. Currently, the Prometheus Lens, a new exotic, is dominating PvP. Due to a bug, the weapon is very strong. Soon, at the earliest on December 12th, the bug is expected to be fixed. Since Xur is bringing this exotic this weekend, one can expect the “Trials of the Prometheus Lens”.
Despite the OP weapon, the Trials will take place this week. It will be played on the map Radiant Cliffs. The game mode is Countdown.
What are the Trials of the Nine with the Countdown mode?
This time, you will fight in the Trials in the mode “Countdown”. It is a round-based and objective-based PvP mode.
You will compete in teams of four, with the offensive and defensive roles switching between the teams each round:
- If you are the offensive team, you must plant a bomb at one of two possible locations and defend it until it detonates.
- If you are the defensive team, you must prevent a bomb from being planted or defuse the bomb in time.
The team that successfully completes its role wins a round. You can also win a round by completely defeating the opposing team. A limited number of revives by team members is available. The team that first wins 6 rounds wins the match.
After each match, you will receive “Trials of the Nine” tokens, which you can redeem with the emissary for Trials engrams. Additionally, you will receive extra rewards after 3, 5, and 7 match victories. If you achieve a flawless run (7 victories without a loss), you can claim an extra reward. If you have 3 match losses on your ticket, you must start from scratch.
In the Trials of the Nine, there is no matchmaking. You must assemble your team of 4 players yourself. Additionally, it is a “locked-loadout playlist.” This means you cannot change your weapons and armor pieces until you leave the playlist.
