A leak from Comic-Con about Destiny 2 is making the rounds. It shows Titan and a Titan. We get a glimpse of how the story of Destiny 2 looks.
The beta of Destiny 2 apparently has relatively little gameplay content. The vast majority of Destiny 2 is kept under wraps by Bungie. This includes what sets Destiny 2 apart from its predecessor Destiny 1 the most: the story.
Spoilers ahead – we are now seeing a section of it.
At Comic-Con in San Diego, which took place parallel to the Destiny 2 beta from July 20 to July 23, there was also said to be a presentation on Destiny 2. It takes place in a command center on the Saturn moon “Titan.”
Footage from this presentation has leaked. They were not meant to go public, so the quality is mixed.
Zavala calls for attack
In the excerpt, we see the doubting Titan leader Zavala. Bungie has announced that the first part of the story of Destiny 2 will consist of the Guardians having to pick up the pieces of humanity after the attack by Ghaul and his Red Legion.
The proud defenders of humanity, the Guardians, are scattered, their morale seems broken. Each of the three leaders has retreated to a different planet to lick their wounds. They must come to terms with the fact that the connection to the Traveler is broken.
The ever-awake Titan leader Zavala has been a support for the Guardians thus far. He has retreated to Saturn and seems to be doubting. In the short sequence, we see Zavala and his spokesperson Lance Reddick (Fringe).
Zavala struggles with the fact that the enemy has defeated the defenses that have held for centuries. However, Zavala seems to gain new courage and announces that they are going “All in.” They are going to war with everything they have.
There comes a speech that calls to arms: “If we wait any longer, we are dead.” They can either attack and reclaim their home, the light, everything or hesitate and die. Zavala concludes by saying he needs Cayde and Ikora back, his old fireteam.
This will make many Titans proud of their boss. Zavala seems to take on a larger role in Destiny 2 than in the predecessor. Even in an impressive cinematic, Zavala was the hero.
